First I should say that I’m relatively new to the boards and aboslutely love them as a resource. I wish I had found you guys sooner!
I’m now 11 days out from my wedding and just read another October 2 date twin’s post that says it’s calling for rain. I know its so too soon to call it but seeing a sunny forcast really would have made my day. I feel like I’m being crapped on by the universe the past couple of months and thought I might have met the “bad things happen in threes” quota by now.
Both of my remaining grandparents passed away back to back 8 weeks ago, which was obviously very sad for the family. They are using the days after my wedding to spread their ashes because most of the family currently lives on the west coast and will be east for the wedding. I can’t join since I’ll be on my honeymoon.
Shortly after the back to back deaths I fractured my tibial plateau (where the bigger bone in the shin meets the knee cap) and have been on crutches for 6.5 weeks to date. I keep hoping that something will magically get better in the next few days and I’ll be able to walk down the aisle (instead of crutch or hop) but I feel like no matter what at this point I’m bringing crutches on my honeymoon and that is a bummer.
So anyway, I was hoping karma wise that at the very least I will get a sunny day. Please cross your fingers for me; my rain back-up plan leaves a lot to be desired!

wow, I wish you the best of luck!

Aww – I definitely will cross my fingers for a beautiful sunny day! Can you put any weight on your leg at all? Have you considered having two people walk you down the aisle so you can lean on both sides? And if you do have to use the crutches – you rock those things down the aisle! It’ll be sweet!

Oh you poor thing, whine away! I am so sorry for your losses and your bad luck with your knee. I will send positive thoughts your way and hope you get a beautiful day for your wedding 🙂 I feel you on that one, we had the hottest, muggiest, most humid day for ours and it rained all morning…. ALL i ever wanted was good weather! but in the end the day was still perfect, regardless, so i’m sure it will be for you too.

Hey I’m the date twin that posted the other post about rain! I’m not sure If you have been as obsessed as I have been checking the weathe every 10 minutes waiting for it to change! But If not IT CHANGED!!!! Whooh hoo! Looks like we might have good weather!now let’s just pray it doesn’t change again for the worse!

Aww when you post said you were whining, I expected a different type of post (I expected real “whining” over little things like table linens or paper products). I don’t think you’re whining at all!
I can certainly about the grandparent thing (my last living grandparent passed in June). Rain sucks, but really try to make the best of it. There are some cool shots your photographer could get in the rain.
I’ve heard that the amount of fun a bride has on her wedding is in direct proportion on how she feels about her dress and hair on the wedding day. If she’s so concerned if it getting dirty or wet, she won’t have fun (and make others miserable). But if you just think, “F*** it, let’s just have fun!” then that’s a totally different attitude!
The only thing we can’t plan for the wedding isl the weather, my dear!
As for your knee, perhaps some good pain killers so you can make a more graceful walk?!
Big hugs from Canada!!

Oh I am obsessed with the weather. I am trying to not get my hopes up until Wednesday (I figure I’ll trust the report at that time) but I am deifnitely excited to see sun on there for now!
Thank you all you’re so sweet! I actually had a bit of a turn around with my knee this weekend too and have more functionality. I will likely still have my crutches but will hopefully be using them a lot less than I have been the past 2 months!
