She does sound like she’s competing with you, but it’s best to just ignore her.

Ergh. One-uppers are awful, not matter what the situaton. You’re not wrong to be annoyed! I have a really hard time dealing with one-uppers.

She is having her wedding and you are having yours, there is no reason to point out all the reasons why you’re doing things the way you are to someone.

Wow…….sorry, she is a flat out biatch!!!  As a woman in HER SIXTIES, she should be mature and gracious enough to have a conversation with you focusing on your wedding, not hers.  Yes, she is getting married, but……..

I find it horrid that a sixty something year old woman feels the need to be in competition with you….cause that’s what it sounds like to me.   Sorry, ignore her….she’s not worth your breath……

LOL, I have a smart mouth so many thoughts crossed my mind in what to say.  But you handled it with class, something your aunt obviously lacks.

On another note – hello from Bowling Green, KY as well!  Not often I see anyone from this area on the boards.

@astrangeharris: I see what you mean, what’s her beef? Just let her get on with and what goes around comes around, you’ll get to get back at her in a much more subtle way he he

I would just let it go.  I went to school with a girl that was in the final stages of planning while I just got engaged.  It seemed that she wanted to criticize every idea I had and complete with what she had.  IDK.  Some brides are just like that.  I would let it go and remember, as you stated many times, she is crazy.

Lol “I’m not in my sixties getting married for the fourth or fifth time, so I’m no expert…”

People are so funny. Not sure what she has to be insecure about, but she obviously is. Avoid all wedding talk with her!

The only way she can compete is if you let her. If she brings it up again, just say “that sounds wonderful!” and leave it at that.

I hate when people call me “honey” in a patronizing way. That alone totally gets my hackles up!

Sounds like your aunt is a bit of a witch. Good for you for handling it with class!

@astrangeharris:  LOL, not a bride, I am a ETSY wedding vendor.  I am also in the process of starting a local bridal newspaper called BG BRIDAL BLISS.  Would love to feature your wedding write up in it.  I had hoped to get it started last year but my wedding business went through the roof and didn’t allow any extra time.  So waiting on some paperwork and then hope to publish first issue in February.  I am also looking to feature “The Question”  so if you have a neat story for that would love to have as well.  BG doesn’t stand for Bowling Green but instead BLUEGRASS so it is open to KY/TN brides as well.
