- Wedding: December 2019 - Paris, France
We will be waiting a couple months, we don’t want to go to bali during their peak season for a couple reasons.. 1. Plane tickets are double the price than if we waited 2. I dont want to have to deal with crowds so I usually opt for off season when I am going abroad unless it can’t be helped 3. we prefer the october weather to their “winter” weather.. though not much difference 4. Fiance needs to be able to accumulate more leave from work lol!

Because we are getting married in August, we thought it would make more sense to go on our honeymoon a few months later, since we want to go down south. We would rather go when it’s -30 here to get away from the cold weather!

We got married 3 weeks ago, and we aren’t going on our honeymoon until May. We are already booked and are going on a 7 day Alaskan cruise. By the time we decided where we actually wanted to go, it was pretty much too late for this year as Alaskan cruises are only for a few months each year. Besides, I am in such a lazy super tired rutt since the wedding, I barely want to leave the house! Ha! Jokes aside, the timing works perfect for us, as it allows us to get thru the holidays, and then still have the honeymoon to look forward to. I also needed the extra time to get my passport changed, and it will also line right up at a year since our last vacation to Cancun. Cant wait!!

We took our honeymoon two weeks after the wedding. We took a cruise which only leaves at 4 on Sundays and our wedding was on a Sunday so we obviously couldn’t go that week. And the next week I was scheduled to get my period soooo we went two weeks after. :] It was really nice waiting those two weeks though. It gave us a chance to unwind after the wedding, get settled in our house, and was something to look forward to!

After our wedding we’ll be heading to a hotel then off to the honeymoon cruise in the morning. =) That had a lot to do with the wedding date we picked.

We’re going a couple days after the wedding. I wanted to do it right after the wedding for a couple reasons. First of all, I know we’ll be exhausted and the vacation will be nice. Second, we’ve been together for 6 years, and I know after the excitement of the wedding wears off, we’ll be back to just being us again, and while I love just being us, I still want to take advantage of the newlywed glow while I can. I don’t think you ever get that back so I want to enjoy it while it’s there. I think if we waited a few months, it would be a vacation but not really a honeymoon. IMHO.

We are looking forward to the honeymoon almost as much as the wedding so we are taking it right away! We are getting married on a Saturday and leaving on Monday to give us a day to pack, run errands, deposit gift money, etc.

Another reason as to why I postponed my honeymoon is that my wedding is in August….during the winter I get seasonal depression and cabin fever bothers me. My honeymoon is in Hawaii, so being able to get away during the winter is very important to me and my mental health. We might also have a small honeymoon-ish. He is taking off Tuesday (our wedding is a Friday) and we are driving 800 miles (12 hours with the dog in the car) on Wednesday to get to Michigan, another 2 hours to got to where the wedding is at on Thursday and then the wedding Friday. We are going to spend a few extra days in Michigan (since that’s where he is from and where his family resides) and then he is returning to work Thursday, so he will have off 9 days in a row.

We’re getting married on a Friday and our honeymoon cruise leaves on the following Sunday. So we will have Saturday to rest up, thaknfully. 🙂

Ours was over a month later.
Couple reasons, a) I would personally be too stressed out to leave the day after the wedding. Even if I lived local I could not just throw everything into our house and go! I wanted time to decompress after the wedding so we can fully enjoy the honeymoon
b) Our Honeymoon was not a relaxing beach honeymoon. We wanted to go backpacking for 3 weeks in Europe. So we wanted to be rested up. And have time to pack properly. And because of the amount of time we took for our honeymoon I did not want to lump it with wedding time off. That way it was like 3 days for wedding the almost 2 months later 3 weeks. Instead of a straight almost 4 weeks out of work in one time.
c) Cost. We wanted to be flexible in our Honeymoon time frame so that we can do it the cheapest possible. If we went in August it would be peak season in Europe. Whereas in Sept/Oct it’s considered off season.

We’re thinking that we’re going to go about a month after. The prices drop by about $1000 for the same amount of time if we go in September instead of August. Plus, my MOH/cousin is getting married in September so I want to be around to help her if she needs me. We’re leaving the Monday after her wedding I think.

We are headed to Vegas right after the wedding and I can’t wait! We are only going for a week but plan on making the best of it!
