I wanted to go to Italy for our honeymoon, but DH wanted a lazy beach honeymoon.  His reasoning was that we never take beachy vacations and didn’t want the honeymoon to just be another typical siteseeing vacation where we felt the need to be on the go and see as much as we could.  I gave in and we ended up going to St John (with the compromise that we go to Italy the following year).

Oh pick 3 !

We had a cabin in the woods, but it was a luxury cabin done in a fairytale theme. Completely private, so luxurious, so beautiful, and it was perfect for a honeymooon! After all, a honeymoon is about sharing quiet time together and taking time for yourselves. =)

We just didn’t want the honeymoon to just be another overseas trip where you rush around seeing everything.

Manth:  holy crap, where is that? It looks amazing!!!!

OP – we did a mini moon and hope to do a longer trip (2+ weeks in SE Asia) later. We went to Steamboat Springs CO and stayed in a luxury resort place for 4 days. It was soooo nice. Especially if it’s just after your wedding, it’s really nice to just veg the F out!

rararachael:

Plan A – Fiji for a week, with a few days in California on either side.

Plan B – 10 days in Hawaii (with a cruise)

Plan C – Turtle Island for a week

Plan D  (and the one we booked) – A week at an AI in the Dominican Republic, followed immediately by a week of skiing in Banff, AB.

We wound up with 2 weeks.  And we bought a house during the wedding planning process, so we re-evaluated the budget.

We’re doing two weeks in Jamaica and then going to Vancouver Island for a week with our last day being in Vancouver to see FI’s favorite band in concert.

I knew I wanted somewhere warm but I also wanted lots to do- I didn’t just want to sit on a beach all day. But I also couldn’t decide on just one place to go. That is why we chose a 10 day southern caribbean cruise. We will have a new and different adventure every day- like snorkeling, hiking, touring, sightseeing- and plenty of relaxing by a pool and daydrinking as well 🙂

rararachael:  We’ve driven through Vancouver, but I’ve never been to the actual city itself, so I’m excited. And if you ever get the chance, I’d say to go to Vancouver Island because it’s gorgeous and way more quiet/laid back than the city (or at least that was how I felt driving through both places).

rararachael:   My fiance and I both knew we wanted to go somewhere for at least week. Most of the vacations we’ve taken have been weekend trips or 5-6 days. The destination- we went back and forth about  a lot of different places. We definitely knew we didnt want an all inclusive islandy vacation because we’ve gone to tropical places a lot already. Then, we “decided” on a California roadtrip. But, we ended up booking a 10 day trip to Spain so that’s where we will be going and I couldn’t be more excited. 🙂

rararachael:  We would love to visit Paris or Italy but at this time that does not seem like a possibility due to work schedules. At the moment there are two options on the table, well 3 kind of.

1) HI, we will either fly over and spend a few nights on one island or take a cruise around the islands.

2) Stay closer to home and spend a few nights in a beach side cabin in Savannah, GA then take a short cruise from either Jacksonville, FL or Charleston, SC.

Either way, it will be a warm climate and beachy. We are beach bums!

rararachael:  Yes, the summer, Tybee island. There is this company, Mermaid Cottages, they are really reasonable and have these cute little cabins all over the island. It is great for alone time. You can stay on the beach or a few blocks away and more secluded (our choice if we go for the honeymoon).
