We are going to Germany/Austria/Switzerland/Italy this June 🙂

Fiance has never been to Europe (and I’ve only been to england/wales), so we are so pumped!

OP, we are getting married in Costa Rica so we are continuing our honeymoon there as well! We plan on doing lots of adventure activities, lounging by the beach, and a ton of hiking.

That being said, my dream destination was French Polynesia, but it’s extremely expensive and I’d rather save that for when I have more money.

yogabride2018 :  Does your cruise stop in Skagway? If it does I have an amazing activity recommendation.

cclrn17 :  That’s so awesome to hear! I am beyond excited. We got an extended balcony, and it’s going to be our first major trip together. I adore the fact that Fiance was so eager to book It, seeing as I know it’s a random place to go – but the more people I talk to, the more I realize it’s actually a very popular vacation on bucket lists! Did It rain a lot when you went?

puravida2019 :  It does stop in Skagway! That is where we are doing the horseback ride through Kodiak preserve. I actually own a horse here, but he’s not safe for Fiance to ride as he’s quite young, and Fiance loves to ride, so I thought that would be perfect.

ellethebee :  We went to Mexico for ours. We had 10 nights at one resort, then transferred to a second for 7 nights. At the first oen we had a suite with a roof-top jacuzzi, and at the second a swim-out suite. Both were 5* adult only hotels on an all inclsuive basis.

We picked Mexico as we’d been 3 times before so a) knew we liked it and b) had seen most of what we wanted to, so knew we could have a purely relaxing trip. We decided against going somewhere new as I’d have wanted to be out sightseeing all the time, and we wanted it to be a purely chilled trip, just sunbathing, eating, and drinking.

Thoroughly enjoyed it and our only regret was not stretching to an extra 3 or 4 nights lol

yogabride2018 :  Oh that does sound awesome! I had a really nice time in AK, but the high point was definitely hiking to Upper Dewey Lake in Skagway. You end up at a lake surrounded by peaks in front of you, and then an amazing mountain and valley view when you look behind you.

    (Someone else’s picture)

I guess I just still wanted to plug the experience in case anyone else is going there soon! I hope you have an AMAZING trip. 🙂

These all sound great! I am jealous of the Bees who can do 4 week honeymoons! We are considering Italy. It’s such a magical place and I like the idea of having kind of a traditional European honeymoon.

yogabride2018 :  It was amazing! We had a balcony on the ship too and it was worth every extra dollar for it for the views you get on at sea days!

As for the rain, it only rained when we were in Skagway and it was cold then too but we did our biking excursion anyways and had a lot of fun.

cclrn17 :  I am so happy to hear! I have a lot of waterproof riding gear, but I guess I’ll have to dig up some stuff for Fiance. We keep joking we are going to skip the wedding and go right to the honeymoon, lmao. Somehow our casual little ceremony turned into a full blown affair, and we both just want to skip to being married already. Did your cruise tour glacier bay?

yogabride2018 :  Yes we did. I can’t even begin to describe how beautiful it was. Our boat would have 1 side of the ship facing the glaciers for a while and then it slowly turned around so the other side of the ship could get the same views. So it was nice having our own balcony so we weren’t crowded with everyone else up against the rails on the main deck. …Ughh I’m so envious that you are going, I want to go back so bad!!

    • Wedding: July 2017 - The Lodge at Little Seneca Creek

After we got married, we went on a mini-honeymoon to a resort in the Pocono mountains in Pennsylvania, about 3 hours away from where we live. That was marvelous and relaxing, perfect for right after the wedding.

About 3 months later, we went on our real honeymoon. Darling Husband had never been out of the country before, so I let him pick our destination. He’s a big fan of English football, so we went to England and Scotland and saw a really big game (Chelsea v. Manchester United) while we were there. I did a lot of research, including asking bees on here for advice, and planned the whole trip myself. It was absolutely perfect! We had activities planned for every single day we were there, and we saw so much of both countries.

If you’re going to continue working with an agent, make sure that s/he knows what you like to do and is able to help you plan a trip that both of you want.

My husband and I went to Japan for 15 days and went to Tokyo, Kyoto and Osaka. We liked it so much that we went back again Nov 2017 (just a little over a year later). It’s my favourite place I’ve been, next time we are going some where else :p but I’m sure we will go back to Japan again eventually.
