We are planning our honeymoon for July (yes, last minute, but that’s OK)
I have discovered Vieques Island in Puerto Rico and it looks amazing. We are renting a house by the beach and doing a whole lot of nothing. We certainly need the break after our wedding.
We have the time-luxory of going for 3 weeks. Originally I was just picking out a house for us for all that time. Now I think it might be nice to do a week and a half in Vieques, and a week and a half somewhere else.
So that’s my big question: From Puerto Rico, where should we go next? I hate to fly so I’d rather take a ferry to another Carribean Island. Suggestions?

Hmmm…I am not sure if there’s a “ferry” to another one of the islands, but you can certainly take a cruise out of San Juan??? Otherwise you will just need to fly.
Vieques is beautiful but there’s NOTHING there. Is good for a couple of days, a week tops if you really want to do the dont do nothing thing. But it gets boring after a couple of days. I am personally from PR and have never been in Vieques more than a weekend.
You could also stay in the big island for a couple of more days?? Go to the rainforest and Old San Juan.
Visit US Virgin Islands or British Virgin Islands?? Whatever you do there is no ferry so is either a cruise, private boat or flight.

@peacockchris: There are ferries coming in and out of Vieques. You can take the ferry to Fajardo and from there you can take another to Culebra.
Vieques to Fajardo (7 days/week & holidays) – 6:30am • 11:00am • 3:00pm • 6:00pm

@mikebeach22: Yes I know that…but you are still in Puerto Rico….there are no ferries from San Juan to other islands/countries in the caribbean. I think that is what she meant.
There’s only one ferry that goes out of Mayaguez (west side of PR big island) to Dominican Republic…that’s it.
