Hey bees!
So I’ve been researching airfare for our honeymoon (we’re wanting to go to either Greece or Italy) and I keep coming up with prices at or above $4k for round trip airfare for both of us. Not including hotel stays (which are around another $2k. I’m just curious whee you ladies booked your airfare through and if you got a great deal on it. I get that flying overseas is going to be a big expense but I’m just trying to get a good deal on them. I’ve bden looking around October so it’s not really he busy tourist season either. Any suggestions or thoughts?
thanks so much!

SkinnyLatte17: Where are you looking? Do you have special requirements re day of the week etc?
Delta, SwissAir, KLM all have fares less than $1000 from Chicago.

SkinnyLatte17: Where are you originating and what are your dates? You should be able to get them for around $1200-1400 each. We are flying into London and out of Amsterdam in late Nov/mid Dec for under $1000 each.

SkinnyLatte17: we booked our honeymoon to italy through europeandestinations.com after a recommendation from a friend. it was a 1/3 of the cost of using a travel agent.
we went for 12 days, price included roundtrip airfare, train tickets from city to city, hotels and we upgraded 3 of the 4.
it came to about $2700/person. this does not include meals and other activities we did.
ETA: we went October last year. weather was perfect in italy and not too crowded

It all depends on where you are flying from and when. We were able to get round trip tickets to Italy, then depart from Switzerland for about 900, but we were very flexible with dates and went in September, right after the peak season.

SkinnyLatte17: I think October is still somewhat busy for Italy and Greece. (not as busy as September… but still more busy than January/Febuary for example)
but like others have said with some flexibility you should be able to find airfare for a lot cheaper (have you had a look at sites such as kayak, swoodoo.com etc?)

To clarify, I meant the year. If you’re really looking at October 2015, that’s probably why you’re having trouble

ajillity81: I thought about a travel agent Too. My bestie used one for their trip to Mexico and ended up being so much cheaper
