- Wedding: October 2013
So, some of you may have read when I posted about our surprise wedding last month but I’ll give a little info. We had been together for 3 years and engaged in May of this year. We were planning to get married next year but it seems it kept getting bigger and bigger and more involved and we have both been married before and really didn’t want a big wedding. We just wanted to be married! A doctor had found a mass in his chest and neck on a routine test and he got scheduled for a huge chest and neck surgery that included a sternotomy (splitting his sternum). The weekend before this surgery we decided to elope…in our home lol Our kids (9, 15, 16, 20) knew but helped keep the secret. We had family over for dinner and before dessert was served our preacher arrived. Everyone looked confused until we announced “Welcome to our wedding!” and we got married surrounded by the people we love most. We still did our sand ceremony since the kids were looking forward to it but the rest was very simple. Well…. We were undecided on having a big reception/party later and really didn”t want too so we have decided to take that money and go on a honeymoon cruise!!! It’ll be my first 🙂 We will be sailing on the Caribbean Princess in January to Cozumel, Honduras and Belize. If anyone has any new cruiser advice please feel free lol I’m so excited!!
btw, after a big scare the night after surgery where I almost lost him, my Darling Husband is recovering well from surgery and we found out the mass was benign 😀
