So I’m trying not to overlook an important part of wedding planning… packing for our trip to Jamacia!!! We are staying at a Sandals (I don’t know which one, cause THAT part is a surprise!!!) and we are going for a week…
I’m trying to plan what to pack, what to bring & what to expect, so if anyone has been there mid-june, or anyone else just wants to chime in about what they are doing, where they are going or what they are packing, I’d love to read about it!
I am planning on bringing lots of bathing suits, coverups, light dresses & flip flops. We are bringing lots of sunscreen w/ bug spray & just bug spray. Sunglasses, hats & chapstick w. spf.
I’m having a harder time trying to figure out what my Fiance should bring. He is going to pack a bunch of swimming trunks – but it’s going to be 90 degrees, and I know that restaurants there don’t want him to wear tank tops. And some dont like nice shorts either.

He’ll need a pair of khakis and a polo shirt or dress shirt. And dress shoes. It sucks but these restaurants require it!
Also–go to Target and buy those aluminum bottles–ours were $7 and when you twisted the lids, a straw came up. Bugs kept getting in our drinks and it was GROSS. Plus they melted super fast so you either had to suck them down (ensuing a headache) or waste them and have to get up for a new one. It was nice to just hand the bartender our thermos things and know they would stay slushy and cold for at least an hour. But the bugs always getting our cups were the worst.
Also–bring some tums. You never know. We’ve needed it on both trips for indigestion since we don’t typically eat very rich food.
As far as bathing suits go..seriously pack light. I only brought 2 with me and a cover up. I brought 2 casual dresses and one nice dress. I just wore the same thing over and over.

I’m going to Mexico in May, and I”m packing pretty much the same thing you are – lots of bathing suits and cover ups, light sundresses, and a nice dress or 2 because some of the restaurants are a little dressier.
For my Fiance, I”m packing (yes, I do all the packing. LOL) lots of swim trunks, khaki shorts and polos, and a nice pair of khakis and some linen button ups. That way they’re light, but still dressy enough for the nice restaurants.
We’re also bringing tons of high spf sunscreen (FI is a strawberry blonde) and aloe. For some reason, I hadn’t even thought to bring bug spray!

ejs4y8: Ah how you have gotten to the core of me, so quickly.. I totally overpack! I have two suits, and I was thinking of getting a third, but maybe I won’t. I plan on doing some early morning exercise swimming, if I can get a farily empty pool, so maybe I’ll just bring a 1-piece for that… I have a super comfy terry cloth coverup, and then I have a light cotton one..
I was also thinking for Fiance, what about linen pants? They aren’t super practical, cause he wouldn’t wear them a lot at home… but would they be worth it down there?
I was also considering bring a light sweater and jeans incase it’s chilly at night…
Thanks so much for your imput!!!! Where did you guys honeymoon?

candy nee.. it was actually someone here to reminded me about bug spray! Im thinking of bringing raid too? Maybe. I don’t like creepy crawlers.. and I have a feeling that being in a tropical place, they might be “around”…
Linen shirts.. that’s a good idea… my Fiance won’t burn easily, but he will sweat easily. I guess if we are going to do a nice dinner, it better be indoors with AC!!!
