@Southerngirl,

This is why me and Fi are skipping the whole wedding thing.  We’d rather put those $ to hmoon.  We’re in the process of picking an island in the Bahamas and the cost so far is around the same as your quotes.  Then we’re doing a decent post-honeymoon reception in the new house.  We’ll save 20k by eloping.  My opinion is people absolutely should not skimp on the hmoon.

Also, some of those ‘honeymoon’ packages are trumped up with stuff people don’t need, like a skydiving, jetski, tour “inclusion”.  I found this out when I researched both just airfare/hotel bookings as opposed to ‘honeymoon packages’.  Hope it works out for you.

We spent $7000 for a wedding and Honeymoon – a weddingmoon (got married on the trip).

Roughly $3500 was just the wedding related expensese (photography, dress, ring, etc)

The other $3500 went to gas, lodging and food for 11 days.

So yes, I guess our Honeymoon is the same cost as the wedding too!

@Southerngirl4234:  Our wedding budget is $7,000. Our honeymoon budget is $3,200.

For our honeymoon we are doing the following:

  • 3 days/4 nights in San Juan Puerto Rico

  • 7 day Southern Carribean cruise visiting: St. Lucia, St. Marteen, St. Kitts, St. Thomas and Barbados

  • Cost includes airfare, hotels/food/activities in San Juan, 2 excursions (i.e., snorkeling, sailing, etc), all food, alchol and gambling/shopping money

Me and My Fiance are going to Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. We are staying at an all inclusive for 6 nights 7 days for 4300 that’s including airfare. Excellence Punta Cana I beleive. It was highly recommeneded to us, and that price is for a upgraded room as well. I can’t wait!! Our wedding budget is 5000, and we wanted to spend about the same or less on a honeymoon without going on a cruise.

We are doing Disney! Not anything extravagent but my Fiance knows I have been wanting to go for years and its all we can afford right now (we are traveling easter week so things sky-rocketed). Total though, Disney will still cost us around 2,000.

My Fiance and I took a vacation last year to Jamaica. For a full week at an all-inclusive resort it was $2000. Try looking at allinclusiveoutlet.com. That’s where we found our deal! Totally legit website and tons of inexpensive tropical options.

@Southerngirl4234:  The trick is to find alternatives to hotels. Fiance and I will be honeymooning for a week (Sunday to Saturday) in Hawaii for approx. $3000 because we are staying in a rented condo rather than a hotel. While it necessitates a little bit of work (cooking our own food and cleaning up the kitchen), it’s totally worth it for us. Without this option, we would have only stayed for 4-5 days on our budget. Good luck!

@Southerngirl4234:  What is your budget?  I was able to get a package deal from cheapcarribbean.com which includes airfare and an all-inclusive resort in St. Lucia for 4 nights for $3500 which was a little bit above our original budget, but I was really gunning for St. Lucia.  Maybe you could try checking out that website, or even try talking to a travel agent?  I hear travel agents who work frequently with resorts often can get great prices/perks!

We are hoping to stay under 6K for a honeymoon.  We could do a european trip and stay in budget hotels and watch what we spend on food….or we could go to Costa Rica and live it up a little.  We wanted to go farther away since we have 12 days of vacation but we just can’t afford to have the type of vacation we want in europe or the caribbean.

Fiance and I have done 2 all-inclusive trips, Bahamas and Cabo. One week in the Bahamas, inc. flight (from Las Vegas) was under $3000. We spent less than $1000 on tours, activities, food away from the resort. We spent about 5 days in Cabo, inc. flight was around $2000. We stayed at the resort the whole time.

We’re having a Destination Wedding in Aruba and will be staying there 6-7 days. We’re going with non-AI. Hotel+flight…I’m still looking at prices, but I’ve found about $2000 to be the cheapest.

We’ll also be honeymooning in Europe (10-12 days)…hoping to spend under $5000-6000.

My SO only job was to plan the honeymoon, I told him I wanted to go somewhere in Europe.

He planned everything, we are going to Iceland for 6 nights 7 days; airfare, hotel, tour package through Noridc Visitor which is a travel agency, and $2,000 dollars in spending money totaled; $5,479.37 for the two of us. It’s a trip of a lifetime

Our total cost for our wedding, includes everything you can think of is about; $18,000 minus the cost of my e-ring. This is to entertain 116 guests, and we paid for everything on our own, except $2,500. This money was a gift from his dad towards that wedding and helped alot! And we were grateful for the help! I love my Father-In-Law.

I think I spent more on my honeymoon than on my wedding.  Since the very beginning we had it clear that it was more important to us.  We went to Los Angeles for a week and then Moorea and Bora Bora for another week.  And I am still sure it was our best decision.
