Ha I’m not much help, since I gave the reigns to plan the honeymoon completely to my Fiance. He is going to surprise me!

My suggestions were somewhere tropical where I won’t want to do anything but lay on the beach for a week.

We’re going on a Royal Caribbean 7 day cruise!  And I can’t WAIT!  It’s on their newest ship, and it was a gift from fi’s uncle, and it’s going to be amazing, lol.

We’re spending the week after our wedding at my family’s camp on a lake near where we’re getting married, then planning to go to New Zealand the February after our wedding.  I’m psyched to have a week to relax after the wedding and spend some time with family since we don’t live near them.  Then after a few months of marital bliss – we can take the trip of our dreams (and hopefully have saved more money to go as well…)

We’re debating between Jamaica and Mexico….leaning toward Jamaica (although we’re nervous about hurricane season).

We are still working out the details, but right now I’m hoping we can pull off a France vacation for somewhere around 10 days. We’ll see if it’s financially possible!

I’m very interested to hear what you all are doing!  I can’t quite figure out a good place for September, as much of the Caribbean is a hurricane threat (I know that the chances are slim, but still…).  We are definitely looking for a sit around and do nothing on a beach sort of honeymoon.  Maybe somewhere on the Pacific coast would be a better bet?

Some hindsight advice from a Sept. 2010 bride: Hubs and I debated back and forth (…and back and forth) over whether to go tropical or European for our mid-September honeymoon. We definitely found better deals in the Caribbean due to hurricane season — even including the cost of high-quality travel insurance. However, we finally decided against it because we didn’t want to have the stress of re-booking our trip last minute if bad weather was headed towards our destination, even though our reasearch said the chances of that were slim. We figured it might send us over the edge if we were trying to get ready the week of the wedding and finding a new destination or canceling and rescheduling vacation time, etc. And if we just got the edge of a storm with cloudy and rainy days, or it showed up halfway through, we felt like we wouldn’t really be getting our full experience.

So we went with our Europe option, and spent about a week in Bordeaux and southwestern France, including a couple days at the beach around Biarritz. The weather was great — not quite as warm as tropical would have been — but sunny almost every day and 60-65 degrees. Great for touring, sitting outside, etc. It turned out to be an amazing trip, and I wouldn’t have changed it at all. It did turn out that there were THREE active hurricanes during the week of our honeymoon, so we probably made the safe choice. But maybe 2011 will be a weaker year!

We are doing a mediterranean cruise. Spending 2 days in Barcelona pre-cruise, and then 7 days on the ship with 2 ports in France and 3 ports in Italy.
