It’s a little early to be booking honeymoons for June 2011 brides, but I am curious where others are thinking of going on their honeymoon.
We would really like to go on a honeymoon right after the wedding and it seems some places are in the rainy season in June. My Fiance and I are looking to go somewhere hot, spend some time on a beacn (but not the whole time, we would still like to do a little sight seeing and other activities).
I have gotten lots of recommendations on Costa Rica but online it looks like June is rainy there.

Hi! I am a future Mrs. M too 🙂
We chose June because I work in the school system and can’t take time off except for in the summer…and it was really important to me to go right after the wedding.
Someone gave me the most recent Rachael Ray magazine and there is a whole spread on honeymoon vacations. Fiance wants Hawaii…I haven’t decided. I think we want a combination of beachy/laid back with activities as well. I just want to make sure the plane tickets aren’t so expensive that they eat up our budget.
How much are you guys budgeting BTW? I have no idea what’s reasonable.
Here are the places I’ve bookmarked so far (from Rachael Ray):
1. Mexico: http://www.cataloniaroyaltulum.com/ (reviews are here: http://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowUserReviews-g499455-d220209-r59512171-Catalonia_Royal_Tulum-Xpuha_Yucatan_Peninsula.html#REVIEWS)
2. West Indies…this place rents out Villas and looks AMAZING, plus they have this “Voyage to the Volcano” package that Nat. Geo chose as one of the top 10 adventure travel companies on earth: http://tradewindsmontserrat.com/voyagetothevolcano.html

I’m not getting married in June but I can throw some ideas. My Fiance and I also wanted a beach honeymoon destination but not for the whole time, and he espcially wanted to go somewhere that has a lot of culture and sightseeing (like Europe). We almost decided on Dubrovnik, Croatia. It has the beach, also some small islands so you can go island hopping, TONS of culture — it’s like a cross between Italy and Greece! I’ve never really heard of the place until he suggested it, and saw some promotion videos on youtube and got all excited! BUT, we’re getting married in August and it’s super high season in Croatia.. we decided to save it for a later time where we can go to the same location, same hotel for cheaper. I believe June is not yet a high season there, so might worth googling it? You can find some married couples who posted their honeymoon pictures from Croatia too 🙂

Thanks for the suggestions.
I am not totally sure what our budget is, perhaps that is bad, to research honeymoon spots without considering that first.
We are going to do a honeymoon registry, so i am hoping most of guests will get us that as our gift (and our guests aren’t too traditional, so i think they will).
I would guess around $2000 each, so $4K total? i dunno though.
Sweetji830 – I have heard of croatia as a great honeymoon destination (actually my distant relatives are from there). i just don’t know if i can fly all the way to croatia without going to other european countries, and then the relaxing part might go away as we try to cram too much in (FI has never been to europe, so he would want to do all the history/ museum stuff too).
A friend of mine suggested Egypt. Lots to see, could do a cruise down the Nile and then some beach time. The flights are a bit more, but once you are there it is dirt cheap.

We’re going to Cozumel, Mexico but not until October. For us it was just too much extra work for us, since we both would need our passports and then to buy flights, book a hotel and pay all-inclusive fees. Before you pick somewhere, really search where you may want to go. The best way to decide is to look into what you want. Another great option is the US Virgin Islands. Those were actually our original spot we wanted to go, but booking was hard because we waited until last minute. Being that they’re a US territory you don’t need a passport.

We’re going on an Alaskan cruise! We’re leaving June 10 from the wedding to Seattle where the port is and spending 3 days in Seattle. Then the chip leaves June 14 for 7 days to alaska and British Columbia. Who knew you could see a glacier in 60 degree weather. It’ll be perfect. I live in Arkansas and it’s already in the 100s by June! Definately a good way to cool off after an outside summer wedding!

@Miss Rock Candy, we’re also considering Alaska. I think June would be a perfect time to go there!
I suggested Croatia, but Fiance had no idea they had beaches! I had to show him a map 🙂 Anyhow, that is still an option, esp now that Fiance realizes where it is.
We’ve also tossed around Italy, Napa/Sonoma, French Polynesia, and the Canadian maritimes. Lots of very dissimilar options…not sure how we’ll decide!
