Yes, for sure go to Costa Rica!

It is out of the hurricane season. So you are still in a tropical setting without the worry (that is close to home). The country is awesome and has everything that both of you want. There are tons of things to do there, tours of all kinds. They have beautiful beaches.

We stayed at a very private place that your Darling Husband would love! It is was all inclusive/ with a masseuse, unlimited (and unbelievably good) food, and alochol. Very cool.

We haven’t been to Belize, but I hear it is very nice. A little more primative maybe.

You can swim with Manatees there!

Have fun wherever you go!

I’m a little a lot biased because I took my own honeymoon in July 2011, and loooooved it! We went to Maui for eight days. We wanted a beach but also things to do (so, not “just” a beach). Our resort was amazing, our location on the island was perfect, and we were just in paradise all week. The weather was a high of 88 and a low of 68 every single day.

Pros for you guys: Maui has lots of tours and things to do that aren’t just a beach. At the same time, the beaches and water are amazing.

Cons for you guys: It’s expensive, and depending on where you live, it can take a long time to get there. Also, Hawaii doesn’t really have all-inclusives, which sounds like it may be what your husband is interested in.

If the time/money thing is one of your top concerns, Hawaii probably isn’t the best choice. But if you want a mix of activites and beach, it’s something to at least consider.

One other recommendation:  have you talked to a travel agent? We went through a travel agent to book our trip, and it was one of the best decisions we made. A travel agent can 1) help you identify a place to go that fits both of your wants and works for a July trip and 2) get you deals to make the trip more affordable. Our travel agent got us some amazing deals and rates! πŸ™‚

We are doing a honeymoon to NYC for a long weekend, but we have a big trip planned for next summer (My niece is graduating from high school in Arizona) to Grand Canyon and Vegas for our one year anniversary. I’m dying to eventually travel outside the US (as I’ve never been) but I’m still in Grad school, he wants to go back to school and I just found out that my hours are going to be severely cut for the summer.

The Caribbean is definitely cheaper in  summer than other times of the year. We are going to Sandals Bahamian, because it has a lot to do and then again has their private island where we could go for quiet. But we are young so we wanted to be around lots to do. I’m excited but we did make sure we got insurance on the trip in case hurricane season hits.

Based on what kinds of activities you guys want to do (tours, museums, and beaches), it sounds like a California trip could be great! Are you against a continental-US honeymoon? I have friends who just went to California and to wine country for their honeymoon and they loved it!

We are going to this place called Hawk’s Cay Resort in Duck Key, FL.  It has a lot of the ammenities of the Caribbean but close to home πŸ™‚  They even have dolphins haha  We’re really excited about it!
