Thefuturemrspowers:  I used to work for a travel agency that sold a LOT of Sandals vacations. The thing about them is that EVERYONE is on their honeymoon or anniversary so EVERYONE is demanding a lot from the staff. At another hotel (not couples-only) you might get an upgrade because it’s your honeymoon or maybe they’ll throw in a bottle of wine at dinner. Not at Sandals. They would literally have to do that kind of thing for everyone.

If you do go to Sandals I would suggest Whitehouse if you want a smaller boutique feel. You can still visit other nearby sandals but it’s a smaller resort.

I think some travel agents get extra commission/are partnered with Sandals, which is why they push it so aggressively.

I’d definitely check out Excellence or Secrets over Sandals.

I second Couples resorts in Jamaica. Both of my sisters had their honeymoons at Couples Swept Away in Montego Bay and they LOVED it. Great food, great atmosphere, and lots to do.
