Hi all!!
My fiance are getting married in 2 weeks and just recently realized we wouldn’t be able to travel outside of the US after the wedding due to visa issues (I’m not American, by fiance is a US citizen).
We have had to cancel our honeymoon to France & Italy for a trip somewhere within the US… So we are thinking about Hawaii! Does anyone have any suggestions on good deals for a honeymoon in Hawaii? Which island is the best to visit?
Thanks for any advice you can give me!!

Sorry to hear about the travel plans. Are you looking to do some sight-seeing or prefer to be secluded? If you are interested in sight-seeing I would definitely recommend the island of Oahu. It is where Waikiki is and the WWII Memorial. It is a large island with lots of activities and lots to see. If you are looking for seclusion I would suggest Maui or the Kona side of the Big Island. I would look into the weather first because I am not sure if now is a good time to be in the Pacific. I think it is typhoon season but I am not certain.

A few of the bees have done Hawaii for their honeymoon… try to look at their posts and see where they went. Probably a good source for information!

I’ve been to Oahu and Maui. Definitely Oahu if you want a more energetic feel. Waikikii beach is great but there are a lot of homeless/panhandlers on every corner. That was just hard to get used to after being in Maui. Maui is so laid back which was great for us. You can snorkel pretty much anywhere and the beaches are amazing. Hope this helps. I think anywhere you go in Hawaii is going to be romantic. I’m not sure about deals but there has to be some out there 🙂

Here’s a quiz you can take that might help:

I’ve been to Oahu and Maui like @tintine1 and I pretty much agree. Maui is much more laidback. The island is smaller. Oahu has more stuff to do, but also more people. There’s more to do in Oahu for tourists, i.e. Dole plantation and WWII memorial. Both are beautiful and worth the trip. Just depends on what you’re looking for.
I would also suggest Puerto Rico… I don’t think you need a passport to go there, but I’m not positive. Hope this helps!

We are going to France & Italy for our honeymoon. I’m not sure which part you were traveling or what your interests are, but here are some comparables in the United States:
Food/Wine- Napa Valley in California
History/Architecture- New York City, Boston/Williamsburg, VA/Charleston, SC
Beach- Hawaii, Florida, North Carolina/South Carolina, California
Art/Fashion- New York City

Both Maui and Kauai are beautiful.
It sounds like you could hit the US Virgin Islands. Is that on your list of possibilities?
