Favorite things about being on the honeymoon: sleeping in, relaxing all the time, eating my heart out

Having a break after all this planning and stress lmao! Also being separated from work and everyone else for one week so we can just be with each other. 🙂

The only negative I can think of it having to go to the airport and wait…

Well, we have two kids, so time away from the kids was GOLDEN, but really just being on our own schedule and not anyone else’s.  Being able to do whatever we wanted when we wanted to together was pretty amazing.

We all get so busy with our schedules and routines that we forget to foster that which is most important – our very foundation (the marriage!) and the honeymoon is a good reminder to do exactly that!

It was also a good chance to look around, breathe and say “HOLY COW, NO MORE WEDDING PLANNING, YAY!”

These were some of my favorite aspects of the honeymoon. They’ll probably sound strange to some people…our honeymoon was more about exploration than vegetation!

  • Ditching the itinerary and discovering magical places…our very own abandoned castle, long drives along the coast, wandering the streets of Dublin…there was so much natural, unscheduled beauty.
  • Cozying up to a peat fire in an Irish cottage with bottles of wine and traditional food.
  • Biking around an island in the rain together, and peering over cliff edges to watch the ocean crash into the rocks.

The negatives mostly have to do with transportation…airport waits and car rentals aren’t fun!

He works away and we were both really busy in the run up to the wedding, so I was just looking forward to spending time with him. Plus not having to do any cooking / cleaning up!

Ahhh… we took a cruise, and we took a nap each day. It was blissful. I also loved the free room service.

Other than that… it was awesome to hang out with my husband. We were able to really relax and enjoy each other– with no concerns hanging over us.

best parts of the honeymoon:not having to work! choosing to not check work email or be connected at all. being able to just jump down and snorkel around the bungalow. hanging out and eating/being super relaxed. the views were amazing:

worst parts: the flights back… we had 3 connecting flights to get back home. not only were we leaving paradise, we had about 23 hours of travelling door to door.

Food. The Melting Pot (chain, but I’ve only been once and love it) has a restaurant in Gatlinburg, and FI’s said we can go there! Possibly snow. Spending time with Fiance focusing on each other and not the wedding. S’mores in our fireplace (renting a cabin). Also, we’ve been together 7 years and been saving ourselves for marriage, so there’s that… 🙂

What I’m looking forward to the most on our honeymoon is the food and sharing the experience with my SO. We love to eat and I’m so excited to see what Fiance has in store for us.
