If you are not set on the tropical vibe, you could always visit somewhere within driving distance.

Gatlinburg, TN is beautiful and mountainous and very romantic.  There are tons of things to do if you want to, or you can rent a nice cabin with everything you could want in it.

Have you checked into cruises that go from New Orleans?  Carnival has a few cruises that leave in October and go to Progreso, Yucatan, Mexico and Cozumel, Mexico. http://www.carnival.com/BookingEngine/SailingSearch/?dat=102011&embkCode=MSY

There are a lot of cruise ports within driving distance from you, you just have to be willing to drive it.

To New Orleans- 8 hours

To Norfolk, VA- 9 hours

To Mobile, AL- 6 hours

To Jacksonville, FL- 6 hours

To Port Canaveral, FL- 9 hours

If you are willing to do it, you have a lot of cruises to choose from.  We have driven a lot for vacation, 14 hours to Disneyworld, 10 hours to Baltimore, 5 hours to Gatlinburg, 5 hours to Chicago, etc.  So its not as big a deal for me.

If I were in your situation, I would book a cruise that leaves a week after your wedding so that you have time to pack and drive to the port.  If the cruise leaves on Saturday, you can drive up there on Friday and stay the night in the town it is located in.
