I’ve been on a few cruises and loved every one of them. We’ve always gone on Carnival so that’s the only one I can recommend. You can save money by not splurging on the suites – we could never justify the outrageous price jump since you’re pretty much never in the room anyway, except for at night and in the early mornings.

We went a different route – neither of us had any interest in a beach honeymoon, so we’re going to Vegas. Round trip tickets for two and 4 nights at the Aria for about $1100.

We booked the hotel through jetsetter.com – it’s free to sign up, and they have weekly deals on awesome trips of all kinds: beach, city, domestic, foreign.

What kind of honeymoon are you looking for? The typical “tropical” one with all-inclusive or a cruise for a week or two? If you’re up for whatever, maybe try and see if there’s a spa/hotel in a city that’s less then 8 hours away where you can do some sight-seeing, see shows, professional sports games, whatever floats your boat. That’s what Fiance and I are doing. Got a great deal for a 2 night stay for $600 in a city a few hours from where we live and will drive down to the states afterwards for the weekend and just tour around. We’re pretty easy going and just wanted to get away with the two of us without breaking the bank. And Fiance isn’t the biggest fan of hot weather, sand and the ocean…

If you’ve decided on a cruise, I love http://www.cruisehotsheet.com

It’s a little bare to the eyes, but shows you the absolute cheapest deals out there.

I’ve used it twice now and love it!

@Legallyblondiebride: Don’t use a travel agent! They’re a waste of money.

If you give me a bit more info (PM me if you don’t want to post it), I would be happy to do a more specific search for you. Things that would be helpful to know are: where will you be leaving from, when do you want to go, what is your budget, what do you want from the honeymoon–beaches or rainforest or ruins or solitude?

How long ago was the cruise where you got seasick? Ship stabilizers have come a long way in recent years.

@Legallyblondiebride: Once your travel agent has found something that you like, just do a quick internet or expedia search to see whether you can find it for less money. The travel agent’s salary has to come from somewhere!

It sounds like you might not get as sea sick on one of the monster cruise ships they have now. The bigger the ship, the bigger the hull relative to waves, which means less rocking back and forth.

I understand feeling overwhelmed. Wedding planning is stressful! I’m happy to help with travel stuff any time you need it. I actually kind of enjoy planning vacations and since I’ve already done most of the fun with my own honeymoon, I’ve nothing left to do!

Also, take a look at Groupon and Living Social. They have some travel-based deals that are pretty good for that kind of thing. We were looking and saw a bunch of Caribbean destinations, and the like.

But we decided to go even cheaper and do a B&B about a four-hour drive away.

We’ll go on a European tour when my SO has become a famous filmmaker!
