I had posted earlier and would like to thank you all for help. As mentioned before, we are planning our trip this Sept 2012 to Santorinni and Istambul. I am soooo confused on booking a hotel in Santorinni. They have different areas there. I have heard that the beaches are gorgeous there. Please suggest the number of days we should stay in Santorinni. Our honeymoon is for 7-8 days.

I just got back from Greece a few weeks ago, and it was awesome! Santorini was my favorite island, just because it was sooooo pretty and romantic.
I would recommend spending 3-4 nights there depending on how long your honeymoon ends up being. I was told 3 nights max so that’s what I booked, but I wish we had stayed one more night.
The beaches there are not really great there, so if that’s what you are looking for, I would choose a different island like Naxos.
We stayed in Oia at a place called Nostos Apartments, and it was AMAZING! I would definitely recommend staying there, and it is one of the most reasonable placese to stay in Oia, although it is still pretty pricey.

Santorini is absolutely beautiful, though, like LAZB mentioned, the beaches are not necessarily the white sand type that most people picture (think volcanic rock). The hotels with the most beautiful views are on the caldera side of the island.
I highly recommend Absolute Bliss (http://www.imerovigli-hotels.com/) in Imergovili, the village between Oia and Fira. It’s much quieter there, but travelling to other locations is easy and the views are awesome without the cruise ship crowds of the larger villages.

I’d stay 3-4 nights in Santorini. For easy access to the best beaches, stay in Thira/Fira and take taxis or bus to the beaches. The prettiest place on the island is Oia, but that is far from the best beaches.

Santorini is beautiful. 3-4 days is more than enough time there. Oia is where everyone goes to catch the sunset. You can stay in Oia or Thira. They have buses that take you from one spot to another. The island isn’t that big you can rent a atv for 20 euros for one day and you can go from one end of the island to another. Perissa is the black beach which is about a 30 minute Atv drive from Oia. The scenic drive is very nice. The roads are easy to follow and there are a lot of signs pointing you to the right direction. I do not advise driving the Atv at night the roads are not lit and windy and curvy around the Oia area.

Those destinations are both on my wish list. Just saw this in my inbox http://www.voyage-prive.co.uk/fiche-produit/3602
