We delayed 6 months. Got married in the fall but wanted a skiing honeymoon – so we ended up waiting until March to take ours.

My fiance’s family had already planned a cruise to Bermuda for July before we got engaged (our wedding date is May 1). So with work and life and everything, it didn’t make sense to go on a honeymoon right after our destination wedding, then turn around and go to Bermuda in July. So yes, its with his family but thankfully we love and get along with them really well and our rom is pretty far away from theirs! ๐Ÿ˜‰

We will take another big trip next Summer…. just the two of us ๐Ÿ˜‰

My partner and I are both taking the full week after the wedding off from work, but we’ll spend most of it in town. There will still be a lot of family in town that we’ll want to spend as much time with as possible. At the end of the week, we’re going to drive to Iowa (we live in Kansas City) to get legally married and hang out for a day or two as a “mini-moon.” We initially thought that would be our only honeymoon-type thing, but, thanks to several full months of travel for work over the last two years, we realized we’ll have enough rewards points saved up to do a full-blown honeymoon next Spring. We want to do a long road trip, so we’re going to wait until next year when my vacation time renews. Thank goodness living in hotels by myself for weeks at a time has finally paid off!

mscuppycake:  We aren’t able to take off right after the wedding due to our work schedule. We are hoping summer 2015 but its hard to say because I’m so low in seniority that I doubt I will get the time off! We are planning a cruise of the Southern Carribean so I can visit St. Lucia without paying the cost of the island! We are more of the advenute/explore type than the sit on the beach and soak up the sun type of people so it works out better that we get to go to different islands and explore/travel the seas ๐Ÿ˜€

Ours will be 3 months after the wedding… This delay is by choice so we have another few months to save our spending money plus it means we still have something to look forward to after the initial wedding excitement has worn off

We’re doing our “official” honeymoon about 2 months after the wedding. One reason is that we’re training for a marathon that takes place just a few weeks after the wedding itself, and we want to *relax* (and, um…eat/drink whatever we want) on our honeymoon, and not worry about training or getting our workouts in.   And it just so happens that one of my best friends is having her destination wedding about two months after we get married, and since we’re traveling some distance already to attend her wedding, we can leave from there for a honeymoon destination that would have felt too far otherwise.

Like some other people have said, though, we’ll probably take a little mini-moon close by for the day or two our wedding, just to decompress…

We got married on a Saturday night and flew out at 6am the next morning. We picked a wedding date that allowed us to do that cause it was important to us as a start to our lives together. We moved in together the day after we got back.

We went to the Sandals Grande St. Lucian for 10 days, and it was awesome. I wrote a review with a bunch of pictures on here, too.

mrscali13:  Off topic to this thread, but how was that? That’s one of the places Darling Husband and I are considering going to for a vacation (we went to Sandals Negril in Jamaica for our honeymoon :D)

We absolutely loved it. We went at the end of July and the weather/everything about it was perfect. We got married in NC, so the journey there wasn’t bad, but flying home to Los Angeles was pretty rough.

I am hoping to go on our honeymoon 4 months after we get married. The wedding is in the Fall and our winters are awful, so going someplace warm during that time would be more beneficial (and fun!). Plus, both of our birthdays are within a week of each other in February, so that would be fun to go around then to celebrate our marriage and birthdays… and maybe Valentine’s Day too!

But, it will depend on if we can afford it then, though. Fingers crossed!

We got married in November.  We took a mini-moon weekend to New Orleans in January.  We’re going on our official honeymoon this fall for our first anniversary; two weeks in Europe!

we still cannot decide where to go for honeymoon… ideally, 6 months after the wedding, if not, we will do it on our first anniversary.

If we cannot come up with a honeymoon idea, then we are going to the cruise
