Eastern Europe! With 15k, your money would go a looong way out there, and you could probably stay at some really nice hotels or resorts. My fiancee and I are thinking about an Eastern Europe trip, maybe the Baltic, which has all the beaches you can check out.

Australia!  You could see Sydney which has amazing night life and beaches, then visit the east coast for snorkeling on the Great Barrier Reef.  Take a look at the Whitsunday Islands…you will be blown away!  Although don’t forget that our summer is their winter and vice versa, even though it doesn’t really ever get too cold in northern Australia.

I love the Australia idea above. Since your husband to be is a foodie, I would have said an African safari but unless he likes African/ethnic food (which can be quite different), this could be a gamble. The food is quite good at the resorts located within the animal preserves, however. What about a cruise to the Galapagos Islands? They do only so many a year because of ecological footprints and all but that’s a great chance to see animals and the cruise lines that go there are very upper crust so the food is first class. Think Crystal Cruises, Windjammer, etc.

I personally love the Paris idea (or Bora Bora or Italy) but don’t know about the animals portion. Those definitely check the food experience box!

My other thought is perhaps a national park–Alaska? No better place to experience game food and animals. Grand Tetons and Yellowstone are close to Jackson Hole, Wyoming and there is some pretty decent dining in Jackson Hole.

I would aim for Bora Bora or Hawaii for the beach. But I’m not sure about their night life.

Thailand! I’ve heard the food is amazing and you can ride elephants there 🙂

sumshine.dawn:  You guys have a similar budget and list of wants as we do! We are compromising and doing a multicity honeymoon. We’re doing 7-9 days in London/Paris/Rome (2 of the 3, undecided which two) and then the rest of the time will be a beach destination which is to be decided. We’re considering Mexico (because I love it), Jamaica, French Polynesia, or the Maldives.

If you want to do just one country though, Thailand or Bali are great options!

Depending on when you plan on going to your honeymoon, I would recommend Santorini. It looks stunning!!!!

We couldn’t agree where to go, so we chose a cruise. We are flying round trip to Venice and then seeing Croatia, Athens, Mykonos, and a few other cities. We are spending four extra days in Venice after the cruise ends, since that is the one city that we both really want to explore.

Obviously you can go almost anywhere via cruise. Some itineraries spend more time at sea, so that would be very relaxing. It’s also nice because you can sign up for whatever excursions you want through the ship to be able to explore your destinations a bit easier than planning it all yourself.

What month?  Can’t answer without knowing what month.  As well you have some destinations listed with opposite seasons.

With 15 grand to spend and what you described you are looking for I would do a private boat charter (with skipper & chef) in the Aeolian islands (Italy).  Getting a nightly show from the Stromboli volcano from your private yacht-omg that would be awesome!  That fits the bill for far flung and fun in my opinion.  The aeolian islands will also give you the beach, nightlife & satisfy the foodie requirement as well.  Not sure about the wild life but my guess is that there might be some interesting birding.  You could do a 1 week charter and then do a week on land in any spot that makes sense accessibility-wise (anywhere you can fly to non-stop from Palermo or Naples) so it could be combined with a city break in many different places in many different countries- or just stay a week in Sicily.

You might also consider a charter along the Dalmation coast or Greek islands, which you could also combine with a week on land for a lovely 2 week land and sea combo.

If traveling in the warm months, that’s what I would do hands down.
