The Big Island of Hawaii sounds like a perfect match. There are a ton of unique hiking opportunities, ziplining, waterfalls, outdoor activities, beaches, and the like. You can easily rent a condo, stay at a hotel or bed and breakfast, or even a beach house for very reasonable rates and be within a fairly short drive no matter where you want to go on the island.

I’m sure there are other matches to this description, but I don’t know them. When I went to Mexico, I opted for all-inclusive. None of my experiences in Europe come anywhere close to your description. But, the Big Island (or really any of the islands that aren’t Oahu) will fit the bill.

I’d also say Hawaii. You could also island hop, I’ve heard great things about Kauai (quite secluded).

I gotta say… Adventures by Disney. You can do all the adventuring while letting Disney take care of all the details and stress.

The only downside is that it’s a group adventure.

Kaui is a really great option! Most of the island is unaccessable by car but there are some amazing hikes including one where you can swim under a 300 foot waterfall. I’d also recommend a helicoptor tour & if you two are divers a trip to the big island for nightime manta ray diving! My fiance & I went here on vacation & loved it as fellow outdoors people but for our honeymoon we will be exploring Maui.

Maui!  Or any of the islands, really.  There is definitely a great mix of options – laying on the beach with a drink, hiking through a rainforest, horseback riding across old lava fields.

I second Costa Rica. With that being said Hawaii would be amazing if your budget permits.

@jordan.crockett2:  We’re doing Maui and we’re pretty outdoorsy. We’ve planned tons of waterfalls, a couple hikes, and some beach days (it’s kind of hard on Maui to get all those things in one place though, O’ahu where we’re from might be better for that IMO).

We have deep sea fishing, kayaking, rock climbing, zip lining, and kite surfing planned for our honeymooon in….

Santa Rosa, FL. Maybe not as glamorous but affordable enough that we can do all of the “outdoorsy” stuff we wanted.

I third Costa Rica! We went there for our honeymoon and it was AMAZING! We did zip lining, hiking, kayaking, etc, as well as sunbathing and chilling out at the beach! I highly recommend it!

Costa Rica is a wonderful place with plenty of outdoorsy stuff. We did ziplining, hiking, white water rafting on the Pacuare, rainforest, dry forest, cloud forest, hot springs, and the list goes on. It’s an amazing place and there is everything from 5 star to hostels. You should be able to travel around and see different parts of the country.

We were looking for something adventurous and decided on an Alaskan cruise.
