With our wedding in Charleston, we are wanting to spend an extra couple of days after the wedding to ourselves, a mini-moon I guess you would call it. We don’t want to honeymoon in Charleston itself since we’ve done all of the touristy things before and don’t want to run into our guests 🙂
Does anyone know of any good beach front places to honeymoon on one of the islands off SC? Even one off the coast of GA or NC would be do-able too. We are looking for relaxation, ocean view, good food, and perhaps a spa?
I need help!

Oooh lucky- I love Charleston! Haig Point on Daufuskie Island off the coast of SC is beautiful and not nearly as touristy as Hilton Head (you have to catch a ferry from HH to get there). Maybe you could even do Savannah if you don’t mind the drive? That city is absolutely gorgeous!

I’m wanting to hear the answer to this, too. We’re thinking of going down south for our honeymoon, which may be crazy because it will be the end of june and so HOT!

Isle of Palms just outside of Charleston is absolutely gorgeous! There are some great little places to eat & have a few drinks all along the beach & even a few blocks off. And like an above poster said, Savannah isn’t too far away either & its just as gorgeous.. Also Hilton Head or Tybee Island.

@daisy326: thanks for the tip! Daufuskie island sounds nice, but it looks like you can only rent houses or villas. We are looking for a hotel, B&B or resort that might have some amenities. Hilton Head may be an option
@jenn6051: FI and I love Savannah. We are just worried since we have been there before that we may be bored on our honeymoon. I didn’t think about Tybee though, I’ll look into it!

You can do your own search/criteria on a lot of these wedding sites & get reviews. I’ve been using weddzilla.com for most of my needs. If you have an account (or create one for free) you can do a “post” on your homepage and type in your budget & a description of what you’re looking for & then vendors give you bids. It’s so much easier than running around trying to find everything on your own! If that doesn’t work, I’d consult a travel agent? They usually can help you save money & plan activities. Best of luck!!

@msigurdson: thanks for the tip! I was considering a travel agent so maybe I should look into that more seriously.
