Im also getting married in May…and I really wanted a relaxing vacation…but also wanted to do stuff.  We are going to the Grand Cayman Island, for part of it we are staying on the main touristy part, 7 miles beach and then the other part we are going to stay on the quiet part on the eastern part of the island at an awesome place called the Reef Resort.  But we liked this island because they have a lot of things to do, turtle farm, botanical gardens, huge shopping area, snorkeling, swim with stingrays, scubadiving..caves to explore…it just sounded like  a place where you could wake up and just feel out the day and see what we should do.

I would recommend a cruise for many reasons:

  1. The price includes everything- your transportation, food, room, entertainment, ect
  2. You are able to relax some on the boat and do some touristy stuff while in port
  3. It really is the best trip for the money- more times than often, you would the same amount of money just for a hotel room as you would for everything on a cruise.

My Fiance and I are taking a cruise for ours- we paid right at 600 total and will be gone Sunday – Thursday!

Happy Planning and Good Luck!

we’re the same type of couple. hawaii was a choice for us but flight was too long. we have also been to mexico where the resorts are great, all inclusive but lots to do off resort (ATving, speed boat, mayan ruins etc). We also considered Italy – a few days on the Amalfi Coast for relaxation and beach and then a few days touring and sightseeing. There is also St. Lucia which we’ve been to – beautiful!!! and still sightseeing to do.

We personally chose an Alaskan Cruise. We have a few days at sea which will give us relaxing time and then outdoorsy activities at each port (salmon fishing, whale watching, helicopter rides to glaciers, brewery tours etc).

We are splitting our time between beach/relaxation and big city adventures.  If you didn’t mind going north, there are a lot of places in upstate New York/Ontario that have wineries, lakes, etc.- and then you could go to Toronto, which is a really fun city.  Friends also did a similar thing near Quebec city.

Puerto Rico is another place that friends have recommended as a good way to strike a balance between relaxation and exploration.

And if you didn’t mind the plane ride, France, Spain or Italy would offer plenty of places to chill out and also be adventurous.
