I love Asheville! Definitely eat here:

The lines are crazy so try to leave yourself some time, but it’s so so good!

My parents have stayed at the Grove Park Inn (might be out of your budget) and it’s supposed to be incredible.

I’ve also been white water rafting near there and that was super fun if you’re outdoorsy!

Oh man there is some super yummy food there! Bouchon is a yummy French restaurant, not too fancy but just nice enough you know? And there are some private outdoor hot tubs that you can rent in nearby Hot Springs…the tubs are filled from the hot springs, and you can take in wine and stuff. Sounds weird maybe but it’s really fun especially at night!

I think there is also a segway tour that one of my friends did in Asheville. Biltmore is nice, def check out the gardens and their wine shop too.

We went to Grove Park Inn for the National Gingerbread House Competition (I know it sounds a little bit silly). It was INCREDIBLE. We didn’t stay there but it seemed like a fun place to even just go for the day and have dinner. The views are beautiful!

I’m moving there in 6 weeks!  I’ve only vistited once though, so I’m not much help.  Once I’m down there, I’ll try to remember to update this post.

As far as restaurants, try the Early Girl Eatery for breakfast.  If you like Indian, try Mela.

My top 10 suggestions (in no particular order):

(1) You should go ziplining! Check out Navitat.com.

(2) You should spend a day exploring downtown Asheville. Lots of interesting shops, and, as others mentioned, great food.

(3) Take a drive and/or hike and/or picnic on the Blue Ridge Parkway. Some of our favorite spots are Craggy Gardens, the Pink Beds, Graveyard Fields, Mt. Mitchell, Devil’s Courthouse, Mount Pisgah, and Looking Glass Falls.

(4) In August, I’m sure there will be lots of local festivities going on. Check out the Mountain Xpress (either online or pick up a paper copy once you get to town, they’re free and available almost everywhere esp. in restaurants).

(5) Check out the River Arts district. I recommend breakfast at Clingman Cafe and lunch at 12 Bones and strolling through the artists’ studios in between.

(6) Go to the Biltmore House. I think you can get a discount on tickets if you buy them at an Ingles grocery store (the main grocery in town, they are everywhere).

(7) If the baseball team is in town, catch a game: http://asheville.tourists.milb.com.

(8) Drive to Hot Springs (about 45 min.) and take a dip in the natural springs. You can take food and have a nice, romantic (and fairly cheap) date. I would recommend making reservations since August is pretty popular.

(9) Take the segway tour, as someone else mentioned.

(10) Take the Brews Cruise to visit the local breweries.

No way!!! We are having our honeymoon in Asheville too!  We are renting a cabin in the mountains but not exactly sure yet.  I love reading all of these recommendations!

I definitely second 12 bones and Tupelo Honey for eating, we sat next to Naomi Judd when we were in Asheville. Downtown Asheville is super cute for walking around. We stayed at the new Indigo Hotel and you could easily spend a lovely afternoon drinking beers at the various establishments.

We are honeymooning in Asheville too! We are staying at a cute little cottage – http://bittersweetcottage.com/

Definitely give yourself a day to just walk around downtown – its so cute and theres always so much going on! This will be my fiance’s first visit (I’ve been a couple times for a work retreat). We are so excited to explore!
