I was wondering if anyone is travelling (or has travelled) to central america for their honeymoon. We were originally talking about Bali but have since changed to Central America. I am thinking maybe Belize, Guatamala and maybe one other country. Has anyone ever been to any of these countries? Is there a lot to do? What do you think would be a good amount of time in each of these places?

COSTA RICA! We visited in 2009 for pleasure and are going for our honeymoon. You will not regret it! There is a ton to do, good food and the people are very kind.

My fiance and I took a weeklong trip to Panama about 2 years ago and it was lovely. We went in January though, so the weather was perfect, don’t know what it would be in July. There’s definitely a lot to do there: we went hiking in the cloud forest and saw a coffee plantation, hung out in Panama City and then went to some islands for beach time and scuba diving.
We’re currently looking into Peru for our honeymoon, so I’d also appreciate any tips on South America 🙂

I’ve actually been to Costa Rica in 2006 and I absolutely LOVED in. FI has never been but I should also mention we are going in July/August (damn teaching!) and from what I heard it’s very rainy then. Any other suggestions?!?!

We honeymooned in Belize at the Royal Belize (a private island). I cannot recommend it enough! It was absolutely the perfect 10 days of sheer paradise. That being said, I don’t think I would take a trip to the mainland of Belize. I didn’t get the greatest impression that the country is totally ready for mainstream tourism, I think Costa Rica would be a better bet if you’re looking to travel mainland.
