We did a similar itinerary for our honeymoon.  We went to Arenal first and then the Guanacaste area. (Different hotels though.)  We did the private transfers and recommend doing that.  Arenal area/volcano is gorgeous and worth the drive between the two areas.

My husband and I are interested in Costa Rica. For those brides who already booked, where did you book? What travel company did you use if you went with one? We are from New York and are hoping to get 1 stop layover (short as the husband is afraid of flying). Would anyone be willing to give a break down on prices and hotel experiences. I am so excited about Costa Rica because we believe it has adventure and relaxation. Thanks for everything!

We didn’t stay in any resorts or make it to Arenal (sad face), but we loved Manuel Antonio and Monteverde. We also loved ziplining (we did it with 2 different companies!)

Oooh, we were considering Costa Rica but I thought I read that Sept was their rainy season?  Have you seen anything about weather?  I hope I’m incorrect!

We are doing pretty much the same trip but in July and different resorts! We are staying at Arenal first at the Arenal Nayara Resort and then heading to guanacaste and staying at Capitan Suizo. I’m soooo excited. We are doing all private transfers, however, we would like to rent a car to drive through some parts on our own time!

I got engaged at Playa Conchal! I loved it there. The food is great. The people are amazing, and the area is beautiful! The food is pretty good too. I could live by the pool there. I never wanted to leave. They had this blind cat that hung out on our lenai. They also have super cool raccoon type things that wander around. (think cuter and minus the rabies) The wildlife is so cool and beautiful!!!! They also have snorkeling…that wasn’t too awesome… but the beach is beautiful.

Hope you enjoy!!

@jlpalumbo:  I’m not going to lie, after we booked our trip I was more excited about that than the actual wedding.  🙂  If you have any questions, let me know.

Definitely do private transfer, driving can be a bit sketchy on windy bumpy roads and in wet season a lot of them are flooded, and there are not always clear signs or directions. Costa Rica ia amazing and you are going to have such a fun time!

@Almost Mrs.P:  We got married this past October and postponed our honeymoon until this March(5 weeks from now!!) because we didn’t want to go during the rainy season.  I’m so excited.  We are flying into San Jose, staying in the Monteverde area a couple of nights, near Arenal a couple nights and then the rest of our stay in Manuel Antonio on the beach.  Gonna zipline in the Cloud forest, hike and enjoy the hot springs near the volcano, go rappelling waterfalls near the volcano, white water rafting in the Pacuare River, and scuba diving near Manuel Antonio.  Can’t wait!!
