Never honeymooned there, but had a wonderful romantic weekend in St. Augustine. Fly into Orlando or Tampa; it’s not a bad drive from there.  It’s a very old city, the oldest in Florida and one of the oldest in the country. Cobblestone streets, lots of B&B’s, if you can’t get a beachfront hotel then it’s not the end of the world as most of the hotels and B&B’s are within 4 blocks of the beach. Lots of activities– rent mopeds/scooters, jet ski, water ski, touristy things, a very funky little artist’s area. We did a ghost tour one night and it was a lot of fun. There’s also tons of really good restaurants and bars, although not much of a nightclub/nightlife scene. In fact, that’s my only negative on the place— it’s very quiet after 11pm or so.

We stayed at The Inn on Charlotte and it was really wonderful. Lovely rooms, the innkeepers are just super, very hospitable, and the breakfast was nom nom nom.

Maybe do 2-3 nights at Disney, or in downtown Tampa (where there are more nightclubs and stuff) then 2-3 nights in St Augustine.  With the retirement of the Space Shuttle, anything anywhere near the Space Coast is going to have attractive pricing because there are far fewer tourists, as long as you go outside of peak season.

I live in Tallahasse now, used to live in Pensacola. In September it is still quite warm in the Panhandle. I absolutely LOVE Destin and Perdido Key. I lived in Perdido while stationed in Pensacola and BY FAR is nicer than P’cola beach. Then again I like the quainter beaches. The Fiance and I have gone to Destin and it is just lovely. I’m just such a sucker for the emerald coast 😀
