We decided we want to honeymoon in Florida, however needeing reccomendations on where to stay in Florida! We love Destin, but don’t think we would want to go there for a honeymoon. Also, nothing too crowded like Miami, Orlanda, etc. We are looking to go early-mid May. Thanks in advance!!

I love Captiva Island. It’s a short ride (60-90 minutes I think?) from Fort Myers. But the resort we stayed at there (South Seas) was secluded enough that you didn’t feel like you were at a popular beach resort.

I live in the Clearwater/St Pete area. It’s a couple hours north of Naples and has lovely beaches.
I second St Augustine!

I lived in Naples area and I would recommend St Augustine, The Keys, and Sanibel/Captiva islands.

Amelia Island
Rosemary Beach / Seaside / Alys on 30a (less party than Destin but same gorgeous beaches)
Key West or some of the middle keys – Little Palm Island If it’s in the budget

Ellak30 : Do you have any recommendations of must see things in Clearwater (or St. Pete’s or Tampa). We are going at the end of the month.

Sanibel, Siesta Key, Anna Maria Island are my go to spots for a low key beach vacation. Not too touristy, but still nicely “beachy”.

We honeymooned in Sanibel. We just wanted a nice relaxing lazy time at the beach and it was perfect.

Another vote for the Sanibel/Captiva Islands!!! I spent a week there last May and it was absolutely heavenly. We biked everywhere, the water was warm and clear, the shelling amazing, it was right before the schools got out for the year so no crowds, warm but not too hot. I’d go back again in a heartbeat!

AstonMartin : skip the clearwater aquarium! The beaches are all so great.do you know which beach you’re staying at? The sponge docks at tarpon springs is a fun little trip in Greek culture. Downtown at Pete is great for bar hopping.
