we’re doing italy & my sister told me we def needed to go to florence and rome.

soo we’re doing venice, florence, rome & sorrento. can’t wait!  also, you’re going to learn italian by may? sounds intense

ETA: i don’t think i’d add any other countries/cities that are outside of italy/france if you’re doing 9-12 days. you’ll be exhausted

There is nothing to do in Florence but the museums, which are amazing, but if you make reservations take about 1/2 to a full day if like me you are a mjor art enthusiast.

Rome and Paris are full of things to do.

I think for the length of time you are thinking of, your plan is spot on to spend a decent amount of time in a few cities. I’d find it overwhelming to be running from city to city the whole time. Give yourself time to enjoy Paris, Rome, and Venice.

Cinque terre Italy is absolutely amazing. I spent two weeks in France/Italy this past spring and Cinque Terre was definitely the most romantic. Rome was actually my least favorite place in Italy! It wasn’t as beautiful as other places.

Nice and Strasbourg (for a little German flavor)- France

Have you looked in Switzerland at all? Lucerne and Geneva are gorgeous areas and relatively less expensive than Zurich.

@katievee:  I would strongly suggest spending more than 2 days in each city. I spent almost a week in Paris and found it wasn’t nearly enough to see everything I wanted to.

Unless you’re the type of people to get up at the crack of dawn and cram as much into a day as possible, and are ok being go-go-go (and tired), I would opt to stick with three cities. You can always see more later on. I’ve read that it can be a bad idea to go to Italy on honeymoon because many brides have breakdowns because it’s just so stressful.. especially after planning a wedding.

I like to be somewhat relaxed on vacation and do some strolling around and exploring without having to worry about the bus leaving for the next stop on the tour etc.

@mrsSonthebeach:  Florence is amazing just to walk around… and to enjoy the food and lovely buildings.

I absolutely love Paris, it is AMAZING! I wouldn’t bother with Milan, it’s ok but other places have more to offer. Vienna is gorgeous. Venice is lovely and very unique but you don’t need more than 2 days there! Brugge I also lovely. What about London? its just over 2 hrs from Paris by eurostar, depends how action packed you want your honeymoon. defiantly do-able though

@canarydiamond:  Yeah, but that still doesn’t take more than about a day.

I spent 2 days in Florence and thought it was perfect. Its a great place to wine and dine, stroll around while eating gelato and just relax. There is a lovely market there as well that has high quality leather for good prices.
