My fiancé and I are doing a cruise from Venice and after we wanted to go to either Rome or Milan. We have been to Rome and love it there. But we maybe wanted to do something different like Milan. Has anyone been to Milan that has any advice? Or even to both, what would you prefer?

Tough call! I have only been to Rome and love it so much I’d have a hard time not choosing it!

I’d go with Milan. While I love Rome, I feel like I saw everything there is to see there. Milan will offer a new adventure.
I personal recommend Cinque Terre for places that I’ve been in Italy and am dying to go back to.

I’ve been to Milan but didn’t find it that romantic. If you want to stay in a city, you should go to Florence over Milan. I second the PP, though – Cinque Terre is definitely the coolest place that I’m dying to go back to. If you wanted to go somewhere a little off the beaten path, Bologna, Parma, and Modena were a few of my favorite smaller cities in Italy. Also, Verona is a day trip from Venice and is absolutely incredible – you must go there!

Thank you for the advice! We were between Rome and Milian because we wanted to be able to take a direct flight home, or else we probably would have done another city. In the end we decided on Rome, its where we got engaged and have to go back there! 🙂

ThankTa hank goodness you chose Rome.
I live in Milan. It is so disappointing. So grey. That time of year is humid and full of mosquitoes. Rome is much better.
