My fiance and I have literally spent HOURS scouring the internet in search of the perfect honeymoon. I have spent way, way too much time investigating resorts and hotels on tripadvisor. We would love to go to Hawaii or Europe, but I don’t want to deplete all of my vacation time for the wedding and honeymoon. So, we are thinking we will save those trips for future anniversaries.
Anyway, we stumbled across The Caves resort in Negril. It looks amazing and has excellent reviews. It is an all-inclusive, but very small and intimate. Definitely not a cheesy resort. We are just concerned that it might be a little boring after a bit, so we are also contemplating spending a few nights at Couples Swept Away. It seems to have better reviews than nearby Sandals resorts.
If anyone has any advice or experience with either resort, please let me know. I’m open to any and all suggestions!

Have you checked TripAdvisor?
Negril is a beautiful place. I stayed at the Riu, and my friends honeymooned at one of the Couples resorts in Negril (there are two). I have another friend who has been to all of the Couples resorts and loves them. I don’t know anything about The Caves… but check for beach access if that is important to you.

Yup- be sure to check that your resort is on the beach if that’s what you’re looking for.
I went to Negril with friends not too long ago, and there’s a difference between the “beach” hotels and the “cliff” hotels. Both types are popular options, but are not necessarily geographcially convenient to one another.
Also, because the ocean in Negril is amazeballs, not a lot of hotels invest in big mega-pools like other destinations. Couples probably does, but the Caves probably doesn’t.
Have dinner at the Rockhouse at sunset- fab!

We stayed at Couples Swept away in Negril this past April to celebrate my FH’s birthday! It was amazing. Beautiful beach, great food, great entertainment..and loved the room we chose….wish it could have been a longer trip..only 4days, 3 nights as we needed to get back for work. I would definately return. Really amazing ..you would love it!
Couples also has a boat ride out to the caves in which you can swim around them..their sunset cruise. It was really nice! Please let me know if you have any questions…. Good Luck 🙂

We didn’t stay at The Caves but actually saw it while touring Negril. It looked absolutely beautiful and I remember we remarked how nice the resort looked. I can’t provide first-hand experience with the resort, but it looked nice from a distance! I think we saw this resort because it’s right next to the famous bar “Rick’s Cafe” where we saw crazy Jamaican cliff divers (kids) jump 100 ft off tree branches into the ocean and we saw the sunset in the horizon! I know you said you have been looking at reviews online, but I just told another Bee to check out http://www.oyster.com and search for “The Caves Jamaica”. This website sends someone undercover to take tons of pics of the room, resort, beach, pool, dining, etc and offers a really long explanation of their experience at the resort both good and bad. Obviously, you shouldn’t base your trip off one person’s review, but it definitely helps. We used this site for our trip to Montego Bay at the RIU and the review was pretty spot on. Good luck with honeymoon planning! I’m starting to feel like a travel agent since I’ve spent so much time trying to plan my own honeymoon as well and am very “trip-minded”!

I agree with the other posters. The Couples resorts are the best! They give you the most amenities for your money. Plus, when we were there, there were so many honeymooners. They do special things for honeymooners too, like get togethers and free massage!! Sounds to me like you’ll be getting the best of both worlds. Congrats and have fun!

The Caves is amazing. But it only has 10 rooms, so it’ve very hard to get a reservation there.
The Caves is one of the Island Outpost resorts, owned by Island Records found, Chris Blackwell. A few years ago they shot the Sport Illistrated swimsuit edition at The Caves.
If you’re looking form something really different, give it a try! Otherwise I would go for one of hte Couples Resorts in Jamaica.

Fiance and I are going there next month for our Honeymoon! I’m so excited. It seems like it may be pretty quiet there at night, Fiance and I will probably go off resort one or two evenings, but we were really looking for something intimate and private where we can relax and enjoy spending time with each other. Did I mention I was excited?
