Wyndham Rio Mar. It’s 30 minutes from San Juan and it’s like a little piece of heaven that comes out of nowhere.  Darling Husband and I loved this place more than Hawaii. We got a great deal on cheapcaribbean.com  The food was good and there’s plenty of things to do, relaxing however was the best. They also have adult only pools and what not too, which is nice.

Here’s a couple pics I took of the resort…

This was the view from the room taken on my cell

Here’s the pic of the resort itself (pardon my hubby)

No honeymoone but I stayed at the Hilton Caribe – BEAUTIFUL.

Amazing views of the shore and the ocean, the forts, San Juan was just a hop, skip, jump away.

They also had a tour where you go to a body of water and see glow in the dark fish. When you splash they light up. Really trippy! I’ll share some photos as well.

We stayed at El Conquistador, which is part of the Waldorf Astoria Collection of hotels.  It was breathtaking.  It’s in Fajardo, which is about 45 minutes from San Juan, about 10 minutes past the rain forest.  The W on Vieques (a private island off of Puerto Rico that you can take a ferry to), looks amazing, but we’ve never stayed.  Hope this helps : )

I second the El Conquistador – They have their own private island that you take a boat to from the main land. I’ve been to San Juan many times and don’t recommend staying in San Juan for your honeymoon…

San Juan is fun! There’s lots to do. You can stay in the Old San Juan area or Isla Verde. Go see the forts and the beautiful architecture. El Conquistador and Rio Mar are both great too. Very close to the rain forest and to fun activities like a snorkeling trip or bioluminescent bay, that’s all right there. I would stay in that area and then take a day trip to San Juan.
