Hey, I loooveee Rome! You are going to have so much fun. We picked an apartment off airbnb to stay with, in the area of Trastevere. We felt that this was a great area to stay – lots of lovely food, very central and easy to get around in. I can send you the link if you like.

The fountains in Rome are actually full of lovely spring water – so bring a water bottle and fill up in the fountains. It is seriously yummy water and I can confirm that it is safe to drink, we drank litres of it!

If you are going to go to Vatican city, we did our tour with http://www.whatalifetours.com/ and they were fantastic.

Don’t wait in a line in Rome. Most places if you join a tour, you skip the line. We got to the Collosseum to find a massive line, so we joined a tour for an extra $10 and saved ourselves HOURS. The lady who did the tour in the Collosseum wasnt great, but we also got a Roman Forum tour as part of the price and the guy was FANTASTIC. I don’t have their details though as it was just a random find.

Food wise, if its in a touristy area, its likely to be crap. That said, it is still so romantic to find a little piazza and have dinner.

If you like gelati (and who doesn’t!) try this place: http://www.dellapalma.it/en/company/ they have like 150 flavours! Its near the Pantheon and we stumbled upon it one night and managed to spend a good half hour just deciding what to have.
