i am planning a honeymoon in Thailand around Christmas time. I think we are going to skip Bangkok this time as i think we are going for 2 weeks instead of 3 weeks. I am looking to stay in Krabi Province and was wondering everyone’s appinion who’s been there before? I don’t think I want to stay in Phuket as I heard it’s very touristy?
Please give me some information 🙂

Where are you from? As an aussie I pretty much avoid Thailand/Fiji/Bali at the time of year because it is overrun with tourists, especially families. As it is such a popular and cheap place for us to visit (compared to holidaying in Australia) families flock there over Christmas. It also get inundated with Europeans escaping the winter (Russians, Germans and Brits mostly).
It also costs a lot more at that time of year and most hotels have expensivecompulsory xmas and new years dinners. Honestly my best advice would be to take the trip at another time if you can.
If you can’t take your trip any other time then I would look into adult only resorts. But be careful a lot of adult only resorts really aren’t (Thailand is avery family orientated culture). A lot of the adults only resorts allow children 12 yrs and over.
If you are looking for a less crowded area maybe think about Khao Lak. It isn’t as popular as Phuket, Phi Phi Don, Krabi or Koh Samui and has a lot less development and the hotels are spread out. but it is popular with German tourists so it might be busy.

My absolute favourite place in Thailand happens to be in Krabi province it’s an island called Railai… It is so beautiful and quiet. There are no cars or vehicles of any kind on the island. Last time we went we stayed at Diamond Caves, which was perfect!!
I’d also highly recommend Kho Tao….it’s also quiet but a much bigger islan than Railai, and its beaches are unparalelled!
If I were going for a honeymoon, I think I’d choose one of those two as they’re both unbelievably romantic & more on the quiet side!
If you want to party then Ko Phi Phi and Ko Phangan all the way!
Personally, I really didn’t enjoy Phuket, it is very touristy! Same for Koh Samui…they were a bit too busy for me!
