I voted for St. Lucia simply because it was one of dream honeymoon destinations, but I think both options are awesome!  How much time do you have for a honeymoon?  I guess it really depends on how long it takes to get to each place and then how much time you have to spend there.

I have been all over the world and Thailand (specifically Koh Tao) was one of the most beautiful places in the whole world.

Amazing food + Delicious cocktails on the sand while watching a rainbow sunset = my dream come true!

You will love it (and it’s so so cheap!!)

I think they are two very different holidays.  If you want to just sit on a beach, then I’d say go to St. Lucia.  If you want an adventure travel honeymoon then go to Thailand.  I wouldn’t recommend flying 16 hours to just sit on a beach in Thailand.  Thailand has so much to do and see and I think if you just go to sit on the beach for most of it, it isn’t as fun.

Also how long do you have for the trip.  If you are going to fly 1/2 way around the world, you wouldn’t want to loose 2 days to travel if you only have a week.

@Cdoonan:  Then I guess you’ve got it all figured out.  I was just posting as food for thought.

We did Thailand for our honeymoon (Koh Phangan and Koh Samui), but I wasn’t too keen on Bangkok (too touristy and crazy).  If you’re comparing Bangkok to St Lucia, I think definitely St Lucia!

We are going to Sandals Grande St Lucian so I voted for that! 🙂 Either place you choose will be amazing though!

We just spent five days in Phuket at the most divine resort, so I’d have to vote for that option!

@DMG:  If you’re going in November either is good, but I’d go for Thailand 🙂 Agree with Pengoala though, limit Bangkok to 2 days max.

TO – DMG:  St Lucia is a popular Honeymoon Destination… you’ll find there are lots of topics here on WBee about it (you can always do a WBEE SEARCH to find them).

But to get you started… here are some past topics that I’ve commented in that might cover some of your basic questions…

1- Topic that compares St Lucia and Thailand (and a few other Destinations) as possible spots for a Fall Vacation = http://boards.weddingbee.com/topic/honeymoon-poll-please-plase-please-help

2- Topic that talks about St Lucia, and Sandals from a Bride who Honeymooned there recently = http://boards.weddingbee.com/topic/i-just-returned-from-st-luciaask-me-questions-if-youd-like

3- And a general topic about St Lucia, look for my own Reply # 4 in this one… as it has a lot of valuable info on how to do reasearch on St Lucia and planning a trip there = http://boards.weddingbee.com/topic/whos-been-to-st-lucia

    Hope this helps,
