i have been to the ocean coral/turquesa 2x.  i loved it.  we were just there last xmas.  we upgraded to the privilege room where you can enjoy the private lounge and a la carte breakfast.  the layout is amazing.  it’s big enough but not huge.  everything is very accessible.  the beach is right there wherever your room is.  i would totally go back to that resort again.

keep in mind that the shuttle buses may drop off guests at other hotels along the way.  this means 60 min may turn into 90 min if there are a few other drop offs.  not to mention, when you go home, they pick up at the hotels furthest from the airport first.

location is key here.  what do you plan on doing on your honeymoon?  visit other areas?  playa del carmen, cancun proper, excursions?

we were just there a few weeks ago and will be back in another few weeks.  i am very familiar with this area so if you have any questions about that area please feel free to pm me.

@mypinkshoes:  ooooo! i know this is an older thread but i’m glad i found it! i was beginning to lose hope in finding a cheaper resort. i was looking at excellence resorts in mexico and wow its a lot of money. not willing to spend that much just to go to mexico. ANYway, since you’ve been to these other suggested resorts, i’d love to hear more! which one is closer to the playa del carmen area?

@virgomasala80:  the ocean coral/turquesa is in puerto morelos which is 10-15 min from the airport and the same to playa del carmen.  we were just there again 2 months ago.  still great food and service.  check on line for deals.  that’s what i do.  now jade is one of our favourites and the el cid is right next door.  it’s a bit smaller.

if you want to be closer to playa del carmen, the princess is a nice resort that is very close to playa.  it’s a very large resort and often has great deals.

when are you going and where are you flying out of?  are you doing flight separate or together?  expedia  is good for this.  i will keep my eyes open for you.

@edgebee:  i haven’t been to the el dorado properties but we’ve looked into them.  they look really nice.  my dh really wanted to go there for our honeymoon but we ended up at the now jade again.  i would certainly go to the el dorado.

@virgomasala80:  yes, it’s all inclusive and the food is very good.  nice selection of restaurants.  we just took my dad there for his 70th bday.  he enjoys a social environment and his beer.  he loved it.

@dovelovesfalcon:  How was your honeymoon?? We are considering booking the Ocean Coral and Turquesa but have seen mixed reviews on Trip Advisor and weren’t sure if it was a good place for a honeymoon (vs. a family vacation or something).  What was your experience?  How was the weather, food, service, crowd, etc?  We are going at the end of June, so pretty close to the same time frame that you were there.
