keikochan :  Eeeeee! Where abouts in Italy and how long for? How exciting.

We are going for a minimoon to the countryside for 2 nights and then saving for another year to go to Japan which is number 1 on both our bucket list and one we want to tick off before kids arrive!

keikochan :  That sounds amazing! When is your wedding? Yeah we can’t wait to get it booked after our wedding. We are hoping maybe I will have a little bump to travel with, if not, we will just have to get over our baby fever, lol. It will be a hectic trip but I need to see the cherry blossom before I have a baby and then can only afford caravan holidays! ha ha

keikochan :  Also, care to share exactly what you saw in Japan?

keikochan :  I thought you might be from your user name but didn’t want to assume and offend you! Thank you for sharing. Our current itinerary looks like Tokyo, Hiroshima, Kyoto, Nijo Castle, Nara! So I am so glad you mentioned those places. Oh my gosh, leaving for honeymoon the very next day, soooo romantic!

keikochan :  Thank you for your recommendation! Good luck with the wedding and enjoy your honeymoon! I went to Venice last year, only for the day, but loved it! Gondola rides are expensive but I am so glad we did it!

Congrats!! So exciting! ๐Ÿ™‚

Question – did you book through a travel agent or are you handling everything yourself? I am currently working on our honeymoon plans and quotes I’ve gotten from travel agents are definitely more expensive then if we booked on our own, but I’m not sure if the benefit of having them while we’re in another country is worth it or not.

Ooh this was really helpful! My SO and I lived in Tokyo for a few years each – that’s where we met – and we are planning on getting pre-wedding photos there. We were in Kyoto once before but unfortunately spent most of that time in the room! We are really looking forward to seeing more of the city and maybe making a few day trips. I really want to go to Nara.

Also – I spent some time in Venice and Rome and REALLY loved it. One of my friends went to Venice and said she didn’t like it as much, so I didn’t plan to spend that long there. Well, I got there and it was just so gorgeous! I was livid that I had listened to her and didn’t spend more time there!

Definitely check out airbnb rather than hotels. There are some gorgeous apartments in Italy – and I’m shocked at how reasonable the prices are in Japan.

Have a great time!

keikochan :  Good for you for saving the money by doing everything yourself!! I think I could do everything myself too, but the honeymoon we are looking at will include lots of traveling transfers and I think Fiance is nervous what will happen if we miss one/delays, etc.

I think the planning process of doing everything yourself makes it fun and something you get to work on together to get excited rather than just be presented with an itinerary. I also love planning so maybe that’s just me! ๐Ÿ™‚
