My Fiance and I have always really wanted to go to Charlotte. I don’t know why- North Carolina is just a place we’ve always wanted to explore. We thought our honeymoon might be a great time to go to Charlotte and just spend a week exploring. But now that it’s time to start booking hotels, flights, etc, I’m second guessing it. I really don’t know anything about the city. Will we get out there and not be able to find anything to do for a week?
So really, my question is for bees from Charlotte/around Charlotte, or who have traveled there…is there a lot to do in the city? Will we be able to find enough things to occupy us for a week? We were thinking about renting a car and driving to Ashville to see the Biltmore one day, but that’s one day. What is there to do the rest of our trip that might be fun?

First and foremost check out TripAdvisor… the # 1 Travel Planning on-line resource. You’ll find TONS of info there… Travel Guide – Reviews (Accommodations – Restaurants – Attractions) and the Travel Forums.
Forums are great you can ask Questions of TA Destination Experts & Locals…. the link to the Forum will be about half-way down this page
TripAdvisor – Travel Forum (Charlotte) = http://www.tripadvisor.ca/Tourism-g49022-Charlotte_North_Carolina-Vacations.html
Other great resources:
Wikipedia (for an overview) = http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charlotte,_North_Carolina
Charlotte Tourism = http://www.charlottesgotalot.com/
North Carolina Tourism = http://www.visitnc.com/
Of course the Blue Ridge Parkway = http://www.blueridgeparkway.org/ and the iconic Biltmore Estate = http://www.biltmore.com/ a must do !!
You could definitely spend a good amount of time exploring both (wonderful parkland off of the Parkway)
Hope this helps

@SoontobeMrsKB: What there is to do will depend on what your interests are and what time of year you come. I’ve lived here for 4 years and there is still a lot that I haven’t done (i.e. Carrowinds, US national whitewater center, etc). Plus if you visit in the spring/fall, the area is gorgeous, especially if you decide to make the drive out to Asheville and visit the Biltmore.

SoontobeMrsKB: i live in charlotte, but i don’t think its enough for a week. i’d say you’d have more luck finding things to do and spending a week either in asheville or on the coast (wilmington/outer banks maybe?)
