Hi bees! We’re in the process of planning our honeymoon and I can’t decide where to go. We usually do city/Europe vacations with tons of sightseeing. This time I’d like to do something totally relaxing with a beach….but I’ve never been to any island and have never stayed at Sandals or anything so I would love to choose the best since we’ll probably never do a vacation like this again. I’d appreciate any suggestions!

We’re going to spend a week at the Sandals Royal Bahamian. We decided to splurge and get one of the villa/butler suites. Neither one of us has ever been to the Bahamas, so we’re both pretty excited. I like the idea that it has the private island that you can go to. When we booked, they were including a $250 spa credit, so that’s nice. I’ve been doing a TON of review reading on TripAdvisor and it gets great reviews.
Several years ago I spent 10 days in St. Thomas and it was AMAZING. Part of me is still sad we’re not going there for our honeymoon, but I am forcing myself to try something new. The Ritz Carlton is running a really good deal right now where you can get a room for $350 a night along with getting a $100 resort credit per day. So, it’s not really all-inclusive, but it’s $100 you can use towards food each day…or use at the spa or whatever you choose. I ate lunch at their seaside cafe everyday and probably spent $15…dinner was obviously more expensive. You do pay a $50/day resort fee, it includes all the water equipment: snorkels, kayaks, scuba gear, windsurfing, etc. I can personally vouch for the Ritz’s beach and say it is 110% beautiful. I stayed in some condos next door, but we would go and use the Ritz’s beach everyday because it was so nice. I love St. Thomas because you can be as active or laid back as you want. It’s only a 10 minute ferry ride from St. John which is a MUST. I also took a day trip over to the British Virgin Islands (stopped at Tortola, Virgin Gorda, and Cooper Island). St. Thomas has a very lively nightlife…
If you want more of a laid back atmosphere, St. John would also be wonderful. DH and I were SOOOO close to honeymooning here. I was actually finding some fantastic deals on vrbo.
Obviously, I have a TON to say about the Virgin Islands, but I am so so so excited about the Bahamas. If you have any questions about the V.I., PM me. I saved a lot of the thinks of cool places I was finding on vrbo.
