Ok, I have a small window of time. We get married on Saturday, October 20 and we wanted to fly out on Sunday, October 21 to our honeymoon in Mexico. The tickets aren’t to crazy high at $1250 round trip for the both of us but I have been waiting on them to drop just a few dollars. It finally did, it is down to $901.48 yup $901.48 roundtrip for 2 people which is a no brainer but my Fiance told me he has concerns about the flight being at 6am. Now we at first was going to take a 8:30am flight. I really don’t see the difference. Anyway, ladies- what do you think? Is 6am to early the day after your wedding to catch a flight? Our reception is over at midnight and our airport is small (10 mins away from venue and we are staying a night at hotel) so we would have to be up and about by 4:30am to catch our flight. Keep in mind 80% of our guest are OOT’ers and I told him I would just give my mother or my bff the key to our home to make sure everything is dropped off back at the house since we won’t be able to do it ourselves before we leave.
HELP- you know flights are a first come first serve thing.

i personally would still do it…. just think of what’s waiting when you get off the plane, haha.

If you were OK with the 8:30 flight, I don’t think the 6 is much different. I say go for it and sleep on the plane.

I think for it being cheaper, go for it. you can spend that money you saved on something else. Plus once you get there you can sleep til your flight is called and also sleep on the plane.

For $300 you can sleep on the plane.
Another issue might be that your room may not be available till later in the afternoon though, so you will want to pack a bathing suit, flip flops and cover up in your carry on so you can have a siesta at the pool until your room is ready.

Go for it. 6 a.m. flights aren’t that bad. And you’ll get to Mexico sooner!

I would go for it. There isnt much difference between 830AM and 6AM. You’ll need to be at the airport pretty early no matter what, and that price is unbelievable. I would say party all night with your guests, get a few hours of sleep (if you can – you might be too excited :P), get to the airport for the early flight, sleep on the flight, and by the time you arrive to your destination, it will probably be time to hit the beach or the pool, at which point, you can take a luxurious nap with your new husband, gazing at the blue water and white sand sipping your margarita (which you got at the swim-up bar in the pool, of course :P). Sleeping on the beach in Mexico > A little extra sleep in your hotel. I love Mexico! Enjoy!

To save $700, i would do it!!
ETA: even at $350, 6am is worth it!

I would pay the extra cash for a later flight- Firstly, you are paying a hotel for 4 hours. You have enought time to lay down on the bed, take a shower, do the deed, take an hour nap and leave. Also, not sure how long the flight is, but if you don’t have a chance to sleep on the plane you probably will be dead tired when you get there.

Ha ha, I’m in the exact same position, except that my Future Mother-In-Law bought the tickets and they came as a suprise to me… “We have to get up when??” Doesn’t leave much time for a steamy first night if any rest is to be had before the flight… But consumation in Hawaii seems infinetly better than consumation in our local Holiday Inn anyway

It’s not really that huge of a difference (time wise) but is a pretty big difference price wise. I say go for the 6:00 AM flight and get a bit of sleep on the plane. 🙂

i think we had a 7am flight. I remember standing outside in the freezing cold in the dark waiting for the shuttle at long term parking but i was so excited and it gave us a full day at our honeymoon destination which was awesome.
@julies1949: good advice! our room wasn’t ready until 3pm. Luckily they took our bags and we just changed in a bathroom somewhere and sat on the beach until it was ready then we went up to our room and napped until dinner haha.

i would go for it, but i love saving money and i see that $300+ as a lot of drinks i could be enjoying on the beach 🙂

- Wedding: October 2012 - the Columns Hotel
I would totally go for it. Sleep in Mexico! Personally, we’d pull an all nighter but that is us- we do better on no sleep than just a Little

We had a Hawaiian honeymoon and had to get up at 4:45 AM the day after the wedding for our flight. Totally worth it!!!
