Thanks to the helpful feedback here, Fiance and I paid for our honeymoon to Excellence Playa Mujeres. BUT!!!! Fiance received a personal call from the principal of his school indicating she was terminated. Both Fiance and I work at 12-month schools that serve children with disabilities, so there isn’t a “perfect time” to have a week long honeymoon; so his principal worked out an agreement with Fiance to have the 1 week off in September.
Based upon her call, the new principal will not honor the week off and is expecting Fiance to return to work the day after the wedding (Friday) or use his leave, which is fine. Luckily I purchased insurance via AAA and received a full refund; but I am really bummed and can’t fathom the idea of leaving our wedding and going directly back to our work/home lives without some sort of “new husband/new wife” get away.
Our wedding is Thursday before Labor Day, so we decided to do a local (East Coast) 3-night get away somewhere. Here is where I need some help again. Can anyone recommend a place (preferrably near a beach) that Fiance and I can stay for the Labor Day weekend? We thought about renting a condo, but don’t know the first step in doing this. We also considered Williamsburg, but the Colonial atmosphere doesn’t lend itself to “she-wants-beach/spa-he-wants-jet skis.”
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Ocean City! I want to live in Fenwick Island so bad…. it’s my someday plan… lol. I’d say OCMD or Fenwick Island DE possibly even Atlantic City NJ?

That sucks!! I’m sorry to hear that the original plans have been ruined.
New Jersey – Atlantic City, Wildwood
South Carolina – Myrtle Beach
Is it possible for a quick inexpensive direct flight to Florida? If so that opens up Miami, Fort Lauderdale, etc.
A non beach-but really relaxing place is Lancaster, Pennsylvania. It’s Amish Country and there are plenty of beautiful & romantic bed and breakfast inns. Our favorite PA getaway is Lititz, PA.

Why can’t he just use his leave?

Regarding renting a condo: check VRBO.com. People put up their personally owned homes/places for rent. But I’d act fast since its less than a month away! Since its so short, why not pamper yourselves at a nice hotel and go out to eat, etc rather than have a condo where you’ll have to cook/clean. Good luck with your search!
Maybe try Rehoboth, Del, Ocean City MD, or maybe even the outter banks!

@Wonderstruck:Great question. At his school, there isn’t personal leave. Basically all of the staff should take vacations on day students are not in school.

We finally came up with a solution: We’re going to the St. John- we rented a gorgeous villa for 5 days and 4 nights. Thanks so much for the assistance everyone.
