Off work Oct 26th – Nov 10th
I am stressed to the core about booking our honeymoon. Eastern Caribbean cruise (princess cruise line) will it be romantic enough, fun enough, relaxing but yet some adventure enough? I have never been on a cruise before and it sounds like a good time. We also have the opportunity to go to Thailand for 9 nights. Phuket. But ughhh flying for that many hours, with 3 stops and 2 layovers. Is it worth it? Will i get another chance to go to thailand? I know I’ll get another chance for a cruise. Cruises are fun, even after you have kids. What about Belize, or Aruba. Is Belize to dangerous, will I get bored on Aruba with 10 nights there.
This is what I want.
1. Romance (it’s our honeymoon of course I want romance ;p)
2. Relaxation (after a year of planning I am going to need a break)
3. Adventure (exploring new places/ trying new things)
4. Beautiful beach
5. Awesome snorkeling
6. Good Food
Please either vote (and then comment what you voted for and why)
or suggest a place (not outrageously expensive (4000 for flight and room) and why it is the best option.
I dont want rain the whole time.

@Alip22: dont want rain the whole time
October is the rainy season in Belize. We are postponing our honeymoon for a couple of months because it will be too rainy where we are going(Costa Rica).

I would have voted Greece/Italy cruise, but it’ll be rather cold during that time of year. So I went with Thailand to fit your requirements.

I voted Punta Cana because that’s where we went! We were able to get an upgraded room at an all-inclusive for 8 nights, with flights from los angeles, transportation from hotel, and travel insurance for about $3200. I thought it was a great deal!
I’m not sure how the weather will be in October. I did learn that the temperature barely changes throughout the year there– but just check into hurricane season. I think it would be over by then.
It’s definitely romantic and relaxing! They have a bit of adventure if you sign up for all the excursions. I don’t think it’s recommended that you go out into the town on your own though. Gorgeous beaches! We didn’t snorkel but a lot of the snorkeling excursions looked great. And food– was pretty good!

I say Hawaii (because of the beaches of course!) but the Greece/Italy cruise sounds amazing 🙂

I’m going to suggest the Kapalai Resort off Sipidan :-). It’s off the coast of Borneo – you could have some jungle treks/rainforest adventures, and then head to that resort for the best snorkling/diving ever!!

Whichever takes you to Dominica, the island is beautiful…but don’t confuse it for the Dominican Republic (totally different place) 🙂

I would probably stay away from the Caribbean because of hurricane season. Someone mentioned Hawaii and I think it’s a good choice. I would highly recommend checking out Europe since it shouldn’t be too cold in Oct. You can do a lot in Italy during the month of Oct.

take a boat cruise around all the hawaiian islands. most beautiful thing i’ve done!! lots of adventure you can take helicopters tours around the volcano on the big island. kauai has the most gorgeous mountains!! go there

That’s right smack in the middle of hurricane season for the carribean, which is great if you’re trying to save money, but not if you actually want nice weather (or don’t want the potential of bad weather). If you were to go to the caribbean, then I would say Aruba is your best bet or Curacao as those islands are furthest south and don’t get hit with hurricanes usually. But, an island might get boring for 10 full days. I don’t think Fiance and I would get bored doing anything together for 10 days, but a couple friend of mine did Jamaica for 2 weeks – 1 week Negril and 1 week somewhere else – and they said they were dying to get home. I can’t even see myself “dying” to get home from and island vacation where I get to spend 24/7 w/ my Fiance even nearly 3 years into our rel. But, everyone is different. However, if caribbean is something you can always do another time, then I would do something you can NEVER do another time. You should definitely do Phuket! It’s supposed to be beautiful! You can always take kids to Europe in the future, too. Phuket is the place I would pick.
ETA: I went to Paris in 2007 in the beg of Nov and it was so cold that I wore a winter jacket and a scarf. Definitely check the weather for all of these places in Oct/Nov before narrowing down your choices!

Do not go to Belize it is not a safe country to be in. If your going to go south go as far south as possible since it is storm season. Italy is incredible if you get a chance.

- Wedding: November 2013 - St. Augustine Beach, FL
Late October/early November is the worst time of year to take cruises in the Caribbean. It’s still hurricane season and the seas tend to be rough. I never get seasick on cruises but I was violently ill on the one we took in November because the seas were so rough and the workers on the ship said that rough seas are normal for that time of year. I would recommend staying away from the Caribbean and Mexico that time of year to avoid hurricanes.
Out of your options Thailand. It will be exotic and memorable and if you have the opportunity to go you should.
I agree with PPs recommending Hawaii as well, not sure about their typhoon season though.

Don’t get me wrong. I love Hawaii and have been there multiple times/ multiple Islands. We both want to go somewhere neither of us has been before. I want to see as much of the world as possible before we start having babies. 🙂 Starting to lean towards Thailand since I have never been on a cruise before and would hate to be sea sick the whole time/ also lack of room isn’t uber romantic. Also we can take a cruise in the future (with kids or not) much easier than it would be to ever go to Thailand. Yes the plane ride will suck but it will be an adventure/ a new adventure as hubby and wife 🙂
You can throw out suggestions I don’t have on there too. But no more Hawaii, it is a great recommendation, but we’ve been there and done that. 🙂 Thanks so much so far for everyones advice. I really appreciate it!

I voted for Thailand. If you go there, just be ready for the insane jet lag that is going to hit you. My Fiance spent a few days in Thailand three years ago when we were teaching English in Koare. It is a crazy place! We were in Bangkok and Koh Samet. You can find very affordable accomodations in Thailand and the food is good. We loved the beach at Koh Samet. I’m also trying to think of some more suggestions for you. Hmmm…

Go up north and tour Chiang Mai. Not sure if rockclimbing or rafting are your thing but daaaang it’s awesome! I loved touring outside of Bangkok. Take a cooking class, it’s fun and you can bring what you learn back home. We have Thai nights and practice our skillz. 🙂
