I had a good time in Aruba, but I think 10 days is a little too long to spend there.  It’s a pretty small island.  I’d go with Thailand if you can afford it.

I think your list is great! the only reason why I chose “other” is because when I was reading what you wanted the first place that came to mind was Puerto Vallarta Mex.

thailand would be amazing if you have the opportunity to go.  i believe rainy season ends in late october.  apparently it is rainy.

as for the carribean, your holiday time is actually near the end of hurricane season.  i’ve been all over the carribean for years throughout all times of the year and have never had a problem.  in fact, i just survived ernesto.

i love travelling so i would pick any of those places.  where ever you go i am sure it will be special.

That Greece/Italy cruise sounds outstanding because Italy is my top out of the country destination and Greece is my number 2.

My vote would be the Greece cruise *IF* it’ll be warm. Like, warm enough to wear shorts, t-shirts, snorkle, etc.  If not, go with the Carib.

Last year I cruised the Southern Carib on Nov 4th and the weather was perfect except for slightly cloudy skies in PR. I mean, sunny blue skies with a nice breeze for 7 straight days, didn’t matter what island we were on ๐Ÿ™‚  Your timing is actually not, in fact, right in the middle of hurricane season.. that would actually be now through September! October is usually fine, and November usually even more so ๐Ÿ™‚

Don’t go to Belize. I have been there – it’s not great.

I love cruising and have been on about 10 cruises from Carnival to RSS. ๐Ÿ™‚ I am currently having a problem deciding if a cruise is “special” enough for my honeymoon. I am only looking at brand new cruise ships with all the extras (even for extra $$) so I can splurge as I want. I just LOVE cruising — it is so awesome to be able to drink with my man and not worry about driving as well as waking up in a new place every day. Love it.

I voted for Belize because that is where my Fiance and I are going for our honeymoon.  Its a small country that you can see in your week to two week honeymoon.  It has rivers with caves you can tube through.  Jungle, mountains, beach and even some ruins.  It’s the perfect honeymoon for someone who wants to do it all (like we do ๐Ÿ™‚ ).

@Alip22:  Thailand Thailand Thailand!! You should check but I think the rain season ends late October,  but prices are still much lower than high season. Check out Railay Bay, Ao Nang beach which is near Krabi. It is one of the top 10 beaches in the world. Easy to get to. Check out Ko Phi Phi and Ko Lanta too. You could do them all and skip out the very average and commercial Phuket!

I voted for Phuket, what a grand adventure!

Plus I hear that Princess cruises has a lot of older people on it, and it may not be the right vibe for your honeymoon.  Check out CruiseCritic.com for people’s in depth reviews of cruise lines, destinations and specific boats (not all ships are created equal).  My Dad is a cruiser and likes Princess but it is more of their crowd, great food though.

Mr TTR and I are semi-retired, so we travel a lot, hopefully I can give you some pointers.

To be really honest with you… October is not the greatest month to travel… it is when the seasons shift globally. Northern Hemisphere goes into Fall heading to Winter, and the Southern Hemisphere Spring heading to Summer (so you are not going to find anywhere that has HOT and DRY Weather)

Consequently ALL of the choices you’ve put forward here have issues… some more than others.

The Caribbean and it is Late-Run Hurricane Season (October – November) … includes a “pathway” that will literally run down the middle of the Caribbean Sea (there goes Punta Cana, DR – and the Eastern Caribbean Cruise)… then head due West (Belize– and the Western Caribbean) before heading north in the Gulf of Mexico (Mexico- and the US South)

Cruise Ships are certainly a great choice for a Honeymoon.  They provide an amazing pampering experience.  And they do move around (change itineraries as need be) so as to avoid Hurricanes, but as others have mentioned, still the seas can be a bit rough.  (I personally won’t cruise the Caribbean August, September or October because of Hurricane Season)

Thailand it is still late Summer… this being a very tropical hot and humid country… but you’ll be entering into the Rainy Season as well (remember the tropical part… so they get a ton of rain)

Italy, Greece and the Mediterranean will be going into Fall as well.  Although temperatures will be decent (aprox 70F), you will encounter rain as well… as this is the beginning of their Rainy Season / Winter.

So, of your list… Aruba is your best bet.  It is far enough south to be away from the Hurricane Zone to not be a dangerous place that time of year (although it could very well get some rain from the far reaches of a passing Hurricane).  Average Temps for October is in the 80s, and on average 11 Days see rain (4 of which will be Thunderstorms).  Aruba Tourism (Weather) = http://www.aruba.com/weather.aspx

Honestly, if you are looking to travel far and wide while you are young and without kiddies in tow… I’d suggest that you perhaps look at Europe, South America or Australia.  These are places that will be more difficult to get to after children come along.  October in Europe will still be pleasant enough (not beach weather, but a lot like Fall in the US & Canada).  And it will be Springtime in the Southern Hemisphere.

    Hope this helps,

PS… To check out weather info for any Country / Destination… take a look at their Official Tourism Websites (always a GREAT Resource), Wikipedia, TripAdvisor or GOOGLE.  All are great tools when it comes to Trip Planning.

Thailand.  Oh what I would do to go to Thailand!!  It’s on my list of places to go fairly soon (before we TTC, and I’m in my mid-30s, so time is ticking if we want to TTC).

It might not be totally comaparable, but last year I went to Costa Rica in August, which is their rainy season.  It rained once, at night (so it didn’t impact our plans at all).  If you are still looking for other ideas, Costa Rica covered everything you are looking for (well food wasn’t super exciting, but it wasn’t bad by any means), and was quite affordable.

I’d be leery of Greece with what’s happening with their economy.

I haven’t read all the other responses but I had to offer up a few personal experiences:

    1. Greece and Italy – Oct / Nov – the weather won’t be great. Also, if you’re porting at seaside ports instead of into cities, things could be a little quiet.

    2. Thailand – Phuket is further north so rainier but in October, you should be fine. It’s the most diverse of the islands. Maybe check out somewhere like Langawi or Chang mai too though to compare the weather and cost.

It’s your honeymoon – if you can go further afield, do it!
