This might not help as I’m from the UK, but we booked 2 weeks in Cuba for our honeymoon, at a beachfront resort. The reason we chose it apart from the stunning beach is because there’s lots to do in and off resort, there’s an eco-park with rescued animals, horseriding on the beach/in the forest, swimming with dolphins(although I’m not sure about that yet), trips to see local cuban life in farmers homes, trips to the nearest city with jazz and latin music and dancing, flea market with local crafts and some amazing artwork, then there is the more active side of things like snorkelling, hobie cats and windsurfing, beach parties etc, plus we can arrange massages and private dinners on the beach, so we will have lots to do! We got 2 weeks all inclusive food and drinks for £2000 in total, in a 4 star resort for Sept/Oct 2014.

Where are you flying from?  We didn’t go for our honeymoon, but fom the US, our flights to Australia were about $2500 each.  We went for one month (2 weeks New Zealand, 2 weeks Australia) and the total was about 12k for everything.   I’d go to Whitsunday Islands, Hamilton Island for a honeyoon.  And while all the way there, stop by Sydney and Port Douglas or Cairns to scuba/snorkel the Great barrier reef, and Melbourne if you have time.  Our honeymoon was a lazy 10 days on St John just going aroudn to the beaches and was only 3k.
