I was wondering if anyone has ever used a heneymoon registry service? I am considering it, but would like feedback for those who have had an experience with one. At first I was concerned with it seeming tacky to guests, but hopefully it is understood that I can’t ship gifts from DC to AZ after my wedding

I used Honeymoon Wishes. It’s already sold out and I can’t wait to get on that trip and get going! Honeymoon Wishes gives you the option to either charge the gift giver the fee or to deduct it from the total cost. So if they give you something that is $150.00 you will collect $143.00…for example. I opted for the latter and just took the reduced gift amount so those gifting us items wouldn’t have to eat the cost.
We only registered for tangible things that we could experience as a couple (rather than credits to the resort, plane tickets or hotel rooms, etc.)
Our honeymoon registry sold out in less than a month…so although there are naysayers out there that say it’s tacky – guests really seem to love it!! We will be getting a private dinner for two on the beach, swimming with dolphins, ziplining, cliff jumping and two different massages. Ahhh, can’t wait!
I think the one other thing that worked in our favor is that Honeymoon Wishes was already teamed up with the resort in Jamaica where we are going. All of the funds were transferred directly to our room account in Jamaica and we aren’t being “paid out” any of the monies.

@LaTortuga: Thanks! This seems like the best option since we have to travel for our wedding!

I think it is a great idea. We went with one through our travel agency. The agent said it’s especially common for couples that have already started a life together (We have been living together for almost 4 years.) If you already have a lot of stuff, having money for the honeymoon is a good alternative. I don’t know where you are going, but we will be headed to the Sandals Grande St Lucian, and for all the activites we want to do, it could reach almost 1,000$ extra!!! I still registered at a store with a few items for guests that want to keep things traditional 😉
