i know this doesnt help but we were just in the same predicament, I really wanted to go to St. Lucia but just booked jamaica due to cost!. Be careful though that is hurricane season so look into that time for hurricanes if you havent already!!

MrsRozman16:  We stayed at the Sandals Montego Bay. It was amazing! I know these are not your options that you stated. But it was awesome. Sandals is the way to go.

Now my friends went to St. Lucia and also loved it. But really the service and awesomness will be the same at both the resorts you stated. But one thing to think about is the flight. Going to Jamaica will be almost half the flight time as St. Lucia which means quicker start to the honeymoon and more time on the beach.

On another note it also depends on the scenery you want. Jamacia has the typical white sand beach with crystal blue waters, but you can go on excursions to the mountains/hills. St Lucia is right smack in the mountains, and there are longer walks to all of your amenities, because all the rooms are on hills.

Both are beautiful with top notch service you just have to weigh the pros and cons of each. We choose Jamaica because it was a shorter flight.

We just went through this same decision when we booked our June honeymoon.  Those were the two resorts we were looking at.  We ended up scrapping both and going with the Grand Caribbean in Jamaica because it has a private island.  We booked the lagoon swim up butler room (or something like that).

My future Brother-In-Law and SIL have been to both resorts.  St. Lucia was their honeymoon and the Grand Riviera was last year for their 5 year anniversary.  They said that they liked St Lucia better, but the butler rooms we were looking at was about 2k more at St. Lucia and they said that they did not like St. Lucia 2k more and if it was up to them they would go with Grand Riviera based on the pricing.

MrsRozman16:  Sure thing! Well we booked with a travel agency (AAA) so we booked like 6-7 months before the wedding. The agent took care of everything, and it was great. Of course we didnt have to pay her anything because the resorts pay them, but she directed us to the resort that would be best for the scene we wanted. ( she has been to all of them).

I am not sure if you should wait or not, but I dont think it would hurt to wait a little at least.

I’ve been doing a lot of research between Grande Riviera and Antigua and ended up choosing and booking Grande Riviera because I heard its a livelier crowd and lots of great entertainment/nightlife. HOWEVER, once we booked I kept doing research and found those that had already been to St Lucia La Toc and then went to Grande Riviera were disappointed with SGR’s rooms, views, and service. From what I gather St Lucia La Toc is at the top of its game. But I did not hear anything about parties and nightlife at the St Lucia resort. Not sure if thats good or bad.

I think talking it out with a travel agent who is seasoned with the Sandals resorts is the way to go. Let him/her know your expectations and they’ll help you choose the best one.
