I don’t think you sound like a spoiled brat. Like anything else, where to go on your honeymoon is a negotiation.

Maybe you can ask him why he wants to go to Italy? What about Italy makes him want to go there? Obviously Bora Bora/ Hawaii are relaxing, tropical, and romantic, so that’s why people want to honeymoon there. When you find out the pros about Italy, maybe you can find some place that is a compromise, has a little of the tropical, relaxing island feel and a little of whatever intrigues him about Italy?

@luluvohn:  I have always  enjoyed subsequent trips to any destination, more than the first. I can apply what I’ve learned and not waste time on things I don’t enjoy, and still explore new things.

If Fiance wants to go to Italy, I would go. You can always combine it with a trip to a nearby destination so you have someplace new to see too.

If he wants Italy and you want tropical, Spain might be a good compromise. The Spanish Riviera is beautiful and has fantastic beaches, and there’s tons of culture and history further inland. Barcelona is one of the most wonderful cities in the world.

I went to Fiji at the Namale resort.  It is catered to Honeymoon people.  It was the best experience because it did not feel like another vacation.  It was extra special.

After planning such a huge event,  you just want to be pampered and Namale did it with their beautiful resort and excellent service.

Perhaps a Mediterranean cruise may be the way to go? I can’t say that I’ve gone on one myself, but I’ve had my eye on a few as a gift for my mother. Depending on which portion of the Mediterranean you travel through, you may make a stop (or two) in Spain, Italy, Greece, or Turkey.

It’s not Bora Bora, but you could still see some beaches and your Fiance could see Italy — a bit of a compromise 🙂

We both wanted to go to the Caribbean, so we chose St. Lucia.

If Europe has too much “been there done that” factor what about somewhere in South America? Brazil has culture and beautiful beaches, as do Uruguay and Argentina. If you’re less into swimming on said beaches, they are also beautiful in Peru and Chile. Yes, you’d be turned into a translator in most of those countries, but it’s definitely a change of pace from Europe.
