Sala Samui on Koh Samui in Thailand. We were there last month for 10 days as a first anniversary trip (we had a small honeymoon, this more than made up for it!)

Sala was absolute heaven and 100% fits the description you gave. We did two days of excursions (one was a boat trip, snorkelling, kayaking etc) and the other sightseeing, an elephant ride & four wheel driving.  The rest of the time we sunbathed and swam – the hardest decision wing where to hang out each day!

The resort itself is the nicest place I have ever stayed and probably ever will stay. We don’t do booze & nightlife either and Sala is tucked away on one of the quieter beaches, with busier spots just a short trip away. They have amazing pool villas plus two great public pools,’one for kids and one for adults. We never felt intruded upon by the kids. And the beach is incredible too. Plus, the true highlight is the breakfast which is complimentary! (& they’d bring around fresh fruit & chilled water to our lounger during the day)

look it up on Trip advisor 🙂

rachelandkurtis:  Costa Rica! It’s pretty affordable, and it has so many options! When I went, I went scuba diving, snorkeling, white water rafting, zipling, and waterfall rappelling. Absolutely gorgeous country, too, from the rainforest to the beaches.

rachelandkurtis:  Have a look at Costa Rica, Aruba, the Maldives, Cuba, and Mauritius, as well as resorts in the Red Sea in Egypt. It is rainy season in most of those places, but IME you shouldn’t get too much rain, and hurricanes typically strike in September/October (if at all).

Aruba…safest carribean island, accepts USD, world class cuisine, amazing snorkeling, quite white sand beaches and turquoise water…and affordable ta’boot.

I was going to suggest Costa Rica too. My husband and I didn’t want to do a lay on the beach honeymoon, but did consider CR since there are so many other things to do there.

I love this weather guide http://www.turquoiseholidays.co.uk/weather-guide

It helped me eliminate a few places from my honeymoon list (I’m travelling in August, which is also hurricane/monsoon in a lot of places like Thailand, Maldives, and lots of the Carribean).

Fernando de Noronha in Brazil 😉 I love Porto de Galinhas too, but Fernando de Noronha should have less people around. For an even cheaper option, I also LOVE Ilhabela in Sao Paulo, I used to go there a lot when I lived in Brazil.

ooh, just keep in mind that any countries on the south of the equator will be on winter, if you do travel in June! If it’s not cold it will be very rainy.

I have two suggestions:

1) Yuctan, Mexico. Probably you already thought about it, but it’s really a great place, not just for mass tourism and drunk students! My SO and I don’t like getting drunk and party either and we loved it anyway! Things we did/Things you can do:

– Scuba diving: Cenotes (it’s absolutely unique in the world, it’s diving in sort of cages, absolutely beautiful!), whale shark snorkling (June-September is whale shark season!), diving in the ocean (you can see turtles, amazing reefs like Cozumel and tons of fish)

– If you like those kind of adventure parks (I don’t), there are tons of them! You can swim with dolphins, touch crocodiles, do zipline etc.

– History of the maya: In Coba, Chichen Itza and Tulum there are amazing ruins to see from the time of the Maya

– Beaches: Beaches in Cancun, Playa del Carmen and Tulum are absolutely beautiful

– Cirque du soleil

– Amazing food and drinks

2) The Northern Coast of Colombia (Cartagena, Santa Marta/Tayrona, Palomino)

There are no hurricanes in the Caribbean coast of Colombia, it’s always hot and it’s a must-see. Cartagena is a colonial city, absolutely beautiful, but can get crowded (still, a must see). Some of the most beautiful beaches in the world can be found in Tayrona and Palomino. No tourist crowds, no or few hotels, abslutely amazing. You can also go scuba diving in all of those places and you can walk a lot, tons of nature. Colombians are very warm people and the food is great (mainly sweet banana, meat, beans, avocado etc.), and the best: Traveling there is quite cheap!

rachelandkurtis:  Just got back from my honeymoon to Culebra and Vieques islands in Puerto Rico! Puerto Rico is very underrated in my opinion. It was very uncrowded, affordable, easy to get to, and insanely beautiful. We snorkeled with sea turtles almost every day and also went kayaking in a bioluminescent bay. This is Flamenco Beach in Culebra, which is ranked by TripAdvisor as one of the world’s best beaches island_wallpaper_edit2
