We didn’t plan our honeymoon after our wedding (wish we had, we were sooo floating after!), and then I got laid off. My hubby kept telling me to find something cheap, but I felt guilty we weren’t having the honeymoon of HIS dreams after he helped me have the wedding of MINE. Then 2 months ago he tells me he found this great deal for $2k, 5 nights in DR at an all-inclusive resort. I get myself excited for this pared down HM, pick up extra jobs so I can tan/wax/eyelash extend/highlight to be the bride I once was, and we both go on a diet (didn’t get close to wedding weight, but perfection is tough!). We stayed at an airport hotel the night before our flight to make things easier, and at 1:30 a.m. (our flight was at 6 a.m.), after a few glasses of rose, he tells me he has a surprise!!!!
I thought he might have booked a few extra nights, or added a second island. NOOOOO!!! We were never going to the DR, we were going to TAHITI!!! Mo’orea to be exact (nicer than Tahiti, what did I know) to an OVERWATER BUNGALOW!!!! Best surprise of my entire life, possibly it will always have that honor. He filmed the whole thing, me squealing, yay!! He got a big bonus at work and lied his ass off to me for weeks. Now I just got back from spending a week in paradise, snorkeling with rays and sharks, jet skiing around the island, eating bread and cheese under a full moon with the Pacific Ocean spreading out, and nothing else in sight. Words cannot describe the amazing-ness of this destination.
Once again I am so happy to be spending the rest of my life with this man who, after 7 years, can still surprise me.

Thanks everyone :)))
@sweetbutdemanding: Do it!! I am already planning a return trip (house rental next time, lol)
If any of you are considering French Polynesia for your honeymoon, I don’t think you can go wrong. Tahiti was a little built up, but Mo’orea was easy to get to, and had great food so you don’t have to eat at the resort (overpriced and underwhelming at all of them, so I heard). Unspoiled and so gorgeous.

@Cecilia37: First of all, this is adorable. I love men that can still be romantic like this.
Second… and I’m not sure why I thought of this… but once upon a time when these two brothers I’m close to were little kids their parents said they were going to the family cabin for a couple weeks. The boys were ecstatic!!
First they said they needed to pick someone up at the air port that was going to be staying at the cabin with them, then when they checked in they said the friend needed help off the plane.
Then at boarding they said the friend was stuck at the air port in Salt Lake City…
Somewhere between SLC and LAX, and of course after a thousand questions and WHY’S from the boys, their parents dropped the bomb. “Surprise! We’re going to Disney Land!”
The older brother was like “COOL!”
The younger one, whom I’m significantly closer to, was so mad they weren’t going to the family cabin that he didn’t speak for three days.

Sounds like the best experience ever and its so sweet your hubby went so out of his way to make this special for the both of you. I actually had to show my guy pics to understand the difference between Tahiti and DR. He was very impressed lol so hopefully that may have planted an idea in his head
